For me it's about the quality of the roster around him and SMS. Paying him $300K next year is fine if we finish in the play offs and show well. We still have a chance this year but odds are low.

Teams find youth and skill on ELC contracts. They just need to find a few of those each off season in order to pay the big contracts of veterans.

I agree. In general I would rather we not allocate so much on a position where so many teams are able to find really good Americans relatively easily and affordably. I suppose you can't always choose the ideal mix of national starters but it would be hard to argue otherwise that ideally, we'd be better off spending more on the offensive line and less on a running back. All things equal.

Don't know if the next one is even on the radar but Walters would be wise to lineup the next hometown hero to make Wade happy and keep the gravy train rolling.

Didn't mos rip ah33 off one season by not allowing him to come on in late games for a couple of snaps to get like 20 yards to make 1000? That rings a bell.

If so, I would 100% include that as a 1000y season, meaning Brady has tied ah33, not beaten him.

Of course the secret sauce goes on top of winning football, very few football players have charisma, even less are well spoken.

AH finished with 974 in 2016. But he played in the final week of the season (which is unusual in a MOS team), and had 60 yards rushing and another 80 receiving.

Looks like we tried our best but weren't going to run him into the ground. We were about to go to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years.

I think Harris got pulled at the half, O'Shea always claims stats don't matter to his players, but I bet they do.  Walters moved away from achievement bonuses long ago, so financially it made no difference.

Brady has stated he would like to play 10 seasons in interviews, I'm sure he will and maybe more if the team can remain competitive.

Yup, he takes care of himself and the talk of his decline is overstated.  Agree all.

In response to some that still doubt him a little...

He is much more than just effective at this time.  He is leading the league in yards by a good margin.  He has been very consistent all year, even when nicked. 

He is forecasted to get 1500 yards and his average per carry is at its peak over his career.

The suggestion that an a cheaper American is a preferred option isn't something I agree with.

I prefer to focus on the facts when evaluating one's performance.  The fact indicate Brady is still king.

Its a key factor, hometown guys are what makes the CFL tick and has a considerable impact to sales and community development

Brady will easily outlast AH33, barring injury.  AH went to pot mentally and physically after his divorce.  Moral of the story: pick your life companion better, and maybe don't get married @IGF.

And on AH's best day he didn't look after his body as well as Brady.  Brady has taken it to next level.  However, going much past 33 at a high level is a pretty tough ask for a RB.

Agree all.  Brady is doing so much to preserve himself.  Including all the community stuff and dog rescue which is so good for your soul and mental health.

We have no idea how long he might last but I would bet you are correct.

If we're winning I'd have no problem giving him more money ( in theory ). However the goal is winning the Grey Cup. It's never going to be about one player. SMS has to be spent wisely and new blood on ELC's have to be brought in each year.

SMS is important yes but the all time greats are worth top tier cake, always have, always will be.  Brady isn't an all time great (yet) but is right on the cusp of that status.

Partially true.  This year the comments were more variety and overly critical at times imo.  My summary of what I heard on the forum this year stands.  Not a complete list, just what I remembered.  I can't wait to see what type of numbers he can put up this year. 

I love yelling BRADY (deep powerful voice) when he get a big run.  Just like ANDREW HARRIS would be blasted on the loud speaker before and of course for the one and only Charlie, who in some ways will never be matched for his raw talent.  We have been blessed with our depth at RB over the years.  I think if we can find Brady 2.0 (Cdn), the club will continue this legacy.  Hard to do twice but if we do it 3 times, we shall find great success med. to long term imo.
