The Saskatchewan Roughriders have officially made a change at kicker ahead of their Banjo Bowl rematch with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Struggling Global specialist Alex Hale has officially been demoted to the practice roster this week, prompting the promotion of Canadian Dawson Hodge. Hale missed two field goals during the Labour Day Classic last Sunday. The first miss came from a distance of 46 yards on the final play of the first half, while the second came from 47 yards in the third quarter.

The native of Gosford, Australia, has made 24-of-32 field goal attempts this season for an average of 75.0 percent. He is one of three CFL placekickers under 84.5 percent this year, alongside Lirim Hajrullahu and Brady Lidster. The latter was cut by the Toronto Argonauts last week.

Hodge played five collegiate seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University, suiting up for 51 games with the Golden Hawks and scoring 419 points over his career. The Coquitlam, B.C., native handled both kicking and punting for Laurier, connecting on 51-of-76 career field goal attempts, including a career-long 49-yarder. He averaged 41.4 yards on 302 punts, with 72 punts landing inside the 20-yard line and averaged 58.3 yards on 258 kickoffs.

The five-foot-11, 180-pound specialist helped lead Laurier to the Yates Cup and Uteck Bowl in 2024. He was named a first-team Ontario University Athletics all-star and a second-team U Sports All-Canadian in 2022.

The 24-year-old attended training camp with the Calgary Stampeders in 2026 and the Riders and Toronto Argonauts in 2025. He appeared in one preseason game for Saskatchewan, converting his lone 31-yard field goal attempt, averaging 64 yards on three kickoffs, and punting once for 48 yards.

Switching out the specialist was made possible by the reacquisition of Global defensive lineman Habakkuk Baldonado, who was signed this week after his release by the Ottawa Redblacks. A key piece of Saskatchewan's pass rush rotation when they won the Grey Cup in 2025, the native of Rome, Italy, has slotted back into the lineup and provided additional roster flexibility. American defensive lineman Devin Adams has been placed on the practice roster as a result.

The Riders will also make one change on offence, as Canadian receiver Daniel Wiebe (head) has been placed on the one-game injured list. American Shemar Bridges will take his spot in the starting lineup.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have shuffled their receiving corps ahead of Saturday's game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The team released its official depth chart on Friday.

Nic Demski has returned to the lineup after missing the Labour Day Classic with an ankle injury, while Ontaria Wilson has been placed on the six-game injured list.

Demski has made 50 catches for 660 yards and three touchdowns this season to rank third on the team. The 32-year-old Winnipeg native has now made 544 receptions for 6,945 yards over 162 career regular-season games.

Wilson was a non-participant in practice this week due to a hand injury. The 27-year-old native of Ashburn, Ga. has caught 56 passes for 739 yards and five touchdowns this season, his third with the Blue Bombers.

Kevens Clercius, who scored a touchdown in last week's Labour Day Classic, is listed as the starter in Wilson's place at boundary wideout, while Demski will start in his usual spot at field-side slotback.

Kenneth Womack has been promoted from the practice roster to fill a depth role in what will be his first career CFL regular-season game. The six-foot, 195-pound target spent two seasons at Western Michigan University, where he made 115 catches for 1,236 yards and two scores to be named first-team All-MAC in 2023.

Dorian Singer, who caught five passes for 62 yards and one touchdown in his regular-season debut last week, will remain in the starting lineup at field-side slotback. Tommy Nield has been moved to field-side wideout, where he will start in place of Gavin Cobb.

Redha Kramdi has returned to the lineup after missing six regular-season games with a hand injury. The Montreal native will start at safety, where he made 21 defensive tackles, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack over six regular-season games earlier this year.

The Blue Bombers have made a few other roster changes, adding American defensive lineman Matt Jaworski to the lineup, and removing Canadian running back Matthew Peterson, Canadian linebacker Lane Novak, and American linebacker Jaiden Woodbey.

Jaworski returned to the team in August after a stint on the retired list. He was involved in a car accident in March and remained hospitalized for two months in recovery. The 23-year-old dressed for one regular-season game as a rookie in 2025, and made one defensive tackle and one sack.

Peterson and Novak have been placed on the practice roster, while Woodbey (hamstring) has been moved to the six-game injured list.

25 snaps now. Basically most of the game on that side.

They can do that with 1 player on each side. So 2 DNAs, with an unlimited number of nats as the DNS who they can come in for. But DNS is irrelevant anyhow because you can sub that DNS back in for another nat at will. It's all kind of silly.

But teams where the imps are better players than nats, which is basically every team, can get a free extra imp on most snaps. Thus fielding a better team.

But not wfc, of course.

I just dont think Zach has much faith in this crew,   holding on to the ball and eating sacks, hitting guys in the hands and them dropping the ball.

Argh, just found out it's the bye after this game.  Last few seasons we have a tendency to lose games going into the bye.  Everyone checks out and dreams of docks and margaritas.  What bad scheduling, to put that after the BB.

Want to pick the Bombers, but, they continually let us down in these situations.

It's really sad, because SSK is not a good team on paper right now.
