Bombers have a fairly tough schedule over the next few weeks meeting Edmonton, Montreal, Saskatchewan twice and Montreal before the end of September.

It's pretty crucial all facets of the team need to bring their A game in each match up.

Health wise, Oliviera, Demski, Eli and Daniels are questionable with Ball likely out for the Edmonton game.

Keys for the game - Everyone comes prepared, game-ready to play and with 100% attitude and execution.

Ed Tait's 48 Hour Primer - Entering the Gauntlet covers his pre-game observations.

First up - Edmonton, playing at home, who will be motivated to maintain first place in the west.

A big up-coming weekend with lots on the line!  Go Bombers Go!

A) the Bombers are not playing consistent football and there's plenty of room for improvement, or
B) we are seeing the best of this year's version of the team and they are just not that good

I hope it's (A) or we're in for a run of loses and a playoff exit  when these five games are done.  I'm not optimistic, I feel this is an aging poorly coached team this season. I see five loses on the horizon (I hope I'm wrong).

Game 2 of 3 against the Elks. We need to win in order to have any chance of winning the season series. Elks are a very good team but I see the chance of beating them greater than beating the Als next week.

Import Hazen in as the 10th linebacker. Cobb as the 5th receiver. Should be an easy win for the bombers  :D

Agree. IF we can win there and split Sask we are likely .500 through the toughest part of the schedule and in good shape. My worry is the Edmonton crowd firing up their team. They haven't seen fans in years there and I think this gives them an edge we can't counter.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers make one roster change against Edmonton Elks
by John Hodge  August 20, 2026

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have kept their roster the same for Friday night's game against the Edmonton Elks, save for one change. The team issued its official depth chart on Thursday morning.

Canadian defensive back Ethan Ball has been placed on the six-game injured list with an Achilles injury that's expected to be season-ending. The Regina native suffered the injury during last week's win over the Ottawa Redblacks.

The 24-year-old was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft out of the University of Calgary. He has recorded one defensive tackle and 10 special teams tackles over 16 regular-season CFL games.

In a corresponding move, Winnipeg has promoted Canadian linebacker Lane Novak to the active roster. The six-foot-one, 225-pound defender played two regular-season games earlier this year but did not record a statistic.

The 24-year-old native of Balgonie, Sask. was a fifth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft out of the University of Saskatchewan. He played five regular-season games as a rookie and recorded three special teams tackles before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

The rest of Winnipeg's lineup remains unchanged from last week's win over the Ottawa Redblacks. The team has only six players on injured reserve, which is the smallest number in the CFL.

Brady Oliveira did not practice this week due to an ankle injury, though head coach Mike O'Shea indicated that he will play.

The Blue Bombers lost to Edmonton by a score of 23-18 in Week 4. Winnipeg fumbled the ball five times in the loss, losing three of them. It was Edmonton's first win at Princess Auto Stadium since 2018.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-4) will visit the Edmonton Elks (7-3) at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday, August 21 with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m. EDT. The Blue Bombers are coming off a 33-21 win over the Ottawa Redblacks, while the Elks blasted the Toronto Argonauts by a score of 42-12.

The weather forecast in Edmonton calls for 26 degrees and sun. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg or 880 CHED in Edmonton.

I think that one game they had good attendance against Sask. was an anomaly spurred by the attendance of Rider fans, against the Argos they slumped back to their patheric norm.

Why in the heck do we need yet another LB that will never see the field other than maybe special teams. How about getting in a few reasonable DB's and maybe a Receiver that has a little speed vs what we have. Ugh!!
