Cody is strong but flappable. Get to him and he gets frustrated.  He just has better receivers this year and possibly better OL so it doesn't happen often.  We do have good DL so I'd like us to get through to him early and often.

Exactly how to beat him.  Get him off his rythym and he will get frustrated and become average.  Hard task but not impossible.  Will be an incredibly hard faught game.

Toronto had lots of pressure on him, sacked him multiple times, and for the most part took away Rankin's run game, and he looked pretty unflapable to me. At this stage of his carreer, he's a better QB than most give him credit for.

It'd be so cool for them to play Singer but for whatever reason that will not happen

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on August 17, 2026, 04:43:21 PMZach is very slow when caught flat footed and in the last 2-3 years he tends not to use rollout motion which kept him safe in the past, it makes him a sitting duck for anyone with momentum on their side.

D's took away the Zach right rollout starting last season. Watch all d's playing Zach. The guy on our right tackle always plays loose and outside and is spying the Zach rollout. They also task a lb with rushing Zach if he rolls right.

They all do this. Even OTT did it.

The simplest explanation is that he's not very good.

He'd have to be better than imps pokey and white. Ya, that's not happening.

Doesn't mean he isn't better than the C&C Drop Factory or Nield. But we all know even if mafia has ratio room, they won't change their desired nat-imp balance at REC.

He'll probably need an injury spot to get a look. That's something no one should be wishing for...

If your explanation is valid, one could draw a conclusion that aspects of the Bombers' management is "not very good".

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Singer might not be good enough to supplant another depth receiver and the team hasn't done an adequate job unearthing talent.

I think most will agree that this current iteration of the Bombers is a .500 team at best. They've been treading water since last season.

3rdand1.5

Rankin in our June 25th meeting with the Elks had a 7.1 yard average against us and ran for over 100 yards.

IMO our run defence has regressed since then, sure OTT with 10 rushing attempts including Jake Maiers attempts last week didn't exactly light us up along the ground, but that seems to be the exception as even with only giving up 27 yards last week we still average over 128 yards a game against and are firmly dead last in that category, as well as in surrendering rushing first downs.

As I have said I have zero faith in our system to stop a well balanced offence, I fear that no matter what our offence or special teams do, our defence will break.

I think there's probably a lot of truth to that. We should have a guy good enough to be in the line up as well as another prospect on the PR.

It's looking pretty bare right now.

2 things: Most (pretty much all?) of Rankin's success came in the first half before he was shut down the rest of the game.

And our run defence, with the exception of the last 6 minutes of the BC game, has been far better since those first 3 weeks of the season.

Not sure if I agree with this. This particular ratio with 3 receivers is brand new this year. No reason to think they won't play with it if they thought they had other options.

They do now have ratio room after losing Griffin to injury. Hazen is not needed in particular.

Yup. They absolutely do.

So are they just stubbornly refusing to adjust the ratio that has had to be shifted several times already, or are some players - like Singer - just not showing what they need to do to crack the line-up?

I don't know. It feels like there are so many things wrong with our offence that adding some rando receiver isn't going to change anything anyways. But just doing the same thing over and over isn't exactly inspiring either.
