Maybe so, I haven't read the rules. I was assuming it was to be used like the old 2 man reserve roster they used for game time decisions if a player was unable to perform on gameday. Can't recall if those 2 players dressed or not but they used to travel with the team for road games.

Anyone know if the PR and IR players attend road games now days?

Well, you would still have to make the appropriate roster move. You can't play from the PR. So assuming Brady was scratched, you'd have to one game IR Brady and add his replacement to the roster. The reserve is mostly a way to have some week to week roster flexibility while continuing to pay players game cheques if the team chooses to do so. For a guy like Vanterpool, this makes sense as he really should be on the roster if CFL rosters were a tiny bit bigger but due to ratio and whatnot it's hard to fit him. That's a different use case than a GTD injury replacement, but logically a two man reserve cannot possibly cover all the potential injury flexibility you need across the roster. Or to put it another way, just because Brady is banged up doesn't mean Peterson needs to hit the reserve and Vanterpool or whomever is therefore forced to take a PR salary. PR players don't typically travel but in this case if it were a road game they'd probably bring whomever would be an option to go in.

The usually lying weatherman is saying 40 percent chance of rain the whole game time. At least as if right now.

So keep an eye out and think about ponchos. If it does rain the whole time it's probably advantage us and Brady. Probably won't though.

Should be great temp for ball. Finally one where the walk and climb won't get me sweaty. Nice!

This is my puzzle! If the Bombers win small or big how do we evaluate the game knowing we are playing the worse team in the league. If we win small then have we improved? If we win big against a team that has not won a game then have we really improved?

While a win is a win at least in IMHO a win no matter how big or small will not tell me much, however a loss will definitely tell me something!

Yes that will be the question. I suppose we could say that having Collaros and Lawson back as starters was the difference in the formula.

OTOH, earlier in the season when both were healthy, the team didn't look good.

So what have we really changed to get away from expecting something different when doing the same thing?

I'll take the win if we get it but until we show we can beat Edmonton, Calgary or Regina, it will still be the question.

Can someone recall any other team gtd that didn't play? Player name and week, and I can look it up to see if a pr or rr was used.

I think there was one a couple weeks back?

Reserve players, practice roster and injured players normally havent traveled with the team.

Exceptions would be for the Grey Cup, if there is a GTD or the injured player can add value on the sidelines (example quarterback).

I remember years ago the Bombers had an away game and Doug Brown was sick at the last minute and they played a man short.

You probably would start by evaluating if they've improved in the areas that they've been struggling with so far this year.

a) Can they take a lead into the half? They've trailed 4 out of 5 games at Princess Auto Stadium so far.
b) Can they keep Collaros upright?
c) Can they limit the big play? That is a real mood-killer in the stadium.
d) Can the Bombers score TDs in the red zone? FGs give instant field position to the other team for very marginal gain.

The next 5 games will define their season, RedBlacks, Elks, Als, Riders twice, followed by a bye week. Hard to imagine they'll win many of those games unless their opponents play poorly, lose 4 of 5 and there should be drastic change heading into "next year land".
