Cameron Judge, Dakoda Shepley return for Toronto Argonauts' home-opener

The Toronto Argonauts will return home to BMO Field on Thursday with a couple of key pieces back in the lineup.

Canadian linebacker Cameron Judge is slated to dress after missing the past three games with head and hamstring injuries. He made 11 defensive tackles and four special teams tackles through four starts this season. The nine-year veteran has made 446 defensive tackles, 30 special teams tackles, 18 sacks, nine forced fumbles, seven interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns over 122 career regular-season CFL games.

American rookie Owen Goss, who served as Judge's replacement, has been placed on the six-game injured list due to a shoulder issue. He has recorded 11 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in seven games. Canadian rookie Jalen Rayam has been demoted to the practice roster, as American rookie James Neal dresses for further depth behind Judge.

Along the offensive line, highly-touted offseason addition Dakoda Shepley will be back after recovering from a back injury that has pulled him in and out of the lineup this year. The former NFLer will take back his usual spot at right guard, with Peter Nicastro shifting back to centre.

Domenico Piazza, who had started at centre, has been bumped to the practice roster, while rookie Keegan O'Neil has been released, making room for the recently-acquired Chris Kolankowski to make his debut as the sixth man. Rookie Frank Vreugdenhil remain on the roster as a seventh offensive lineman.

The Toronto Argonauts (3-4) will host the Calgary Stampeders (4-4) at BMO Field on Thursday, August 6, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. This marks the first true home game for the Argos this season after being displaced by the FIFA World Cup. Toronto enjoyed a bye following a 26-12 win over the B.C. Lions in Week 8. Quarterback Chad Kelly left that game early with a neck injury, but he will start for the Double Blue.

The game will be broadcast on TSN and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 770 CHQR in Calgary or TSN 1050 in Toronto.

Calgary Stampeders run out exact same roster in back-to-back games

The Calgary Stampeders did not report a single injury after practices leading into their Week 10 game with the Toronto Argonauts.

After beating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 44-20 in Week 9 at Hamilton Stadium on Saturday, August 1, the Stamps set up shop at McMaster University for the team's short week. Calgary did not have any players listed on the injury reports and will run the same lineup out in back-to-back weeks.

The Stampeders don't have any players on the one-game injured list, but have eight on the six-game injured list: offensive lineman Preston Nichols, receiver Reggie Begelton, defensive linemen Daniel Joseph and Justin Sambu, linebacker Eric Rascoe, defensive backs Bailey Devine-Scott and Sheldon Arnold II, and kicker Rene Paredes.

TOR's been a bit of a disaster lately.  Is it all due to injury?  I think, like us, they are having trouble settling down and finding a rhythm.  They also (like us) might be weak & vulnerable in certain units.

In theory Kelly should be lighting the heck out of things, especially given all those high-power RECs.

I'm really starting to think that old fogey and his CB radio HC is no goode... Dinwiddie would be winning way more with these guys.

Does it feel like the officials this year have been told to not call holding penalties unless its blatent? Even then they dont call it.
Against BC on both of Horvaths runs the libebacker is grabbed, and tonite holding isnt being called

In all cases I wish the CFL would accept the reality of the game should be reflected in the rules the refs are expected to enforce.  If holding is part of the game fine, take the penalty for holding out of the rule book and make it legal.

Normally the CFL standard is it has to be a hold near the carrier, and a bit egregious. They still miss a ton of callable ones. And they are very lax on REC holding... That's why ssk does so well. They coach up to the precise limit. I think they have a junior coach dedicated to holding!

Another thing I've noticed is at around 5 minutes left they stop calling holding completely. The most insane hoggie holding is ok. We need to understand this as a team and make sure we are max holding late in games. Just watch what ssk does late in games...

The standard that I have been taught is the hold has to impact the play, so a hold away from the ball carrier gets ignored, but when its in the lane he's running, it should get called. Wilson was hauled down last week on the one big run and the official/umpire did not call it.

That was kind of a butt ugly game, but the Argos did their part vaulting us into 3rd.
