Quote from: Tecno on July 27, 2026, 07:33:06 AMNo, it was AH33 1st, Yoshi 2nd, and Strev 3rd.  Those were the heart of the team.  We had 3 in '19 (crazy!) and that's why we steamrolled the GC.  We had 2 in '21, and that's why we were unstoppable all season.  Then they started departing and we have never recovered.

Willie does help, but he's different.  He's a controlled energy.  The other 3 were just nuts, completely on fire.  Heck, throw Bailey & Biggie in there too.  Those guys knew that morale/energy/hunger was 33% of the game.

And with Dru in, we have an extra problem: he's the least energetic/hungry QB out there.  He's like Franklin.  It's like playing on valium.  I never thought I'd see a QB more chill than Zach, but here we are...

I'm glad to hear Condell is an energetic hyper nut-case -- maybe that can rub off on the guys.  The only problem is he's up in the booth during the game so he can't infect the players.

Oh ya... look who has AH33 and Yoshi right now.  And look who won the cup last year and is the favorite for this year...

Exactly, we had Harris as the ring leader but he had ALOT of help from those you mentioned that have departed and we've never replaced that energy. Harris, Yoshi and Bailey on offense, Biggie and Jefferson on defense, and like you said, it wasn't rah rah energy, it was off the charts-I-am-nuts energy, so we steamrolled teams on that energy and intensity. Now, we have to set an alarm clock to wake everyone up when its the 2nd quarter because they sleep through the 1st quarter!!!

You're being generous! More like 2nd HALF! -- if not 4th Q.
Never go full Johnston!

If Brady doesn't like Condell, and he didn't like hogan, then maybe it's a Brady problem, not an OC problem.

Of course, we're just speculating and dreaming up a potential rift... Sure, we're getting hints and it may exist, but we can't really know.

But yes, the reason you ever put Brady wide is if every other time he's wide open and you actually take the shot. Teams didn't bite enough to throw to him, and they didn't bite enough for him to draw big close coverage, therefore it was a complete waste of a receiver spot.

I wouldn't put Brady wide now note than once a game.

And if Brady wants the ball more, stop getting only 2 to 3 yards on the vast majority of your runs.

And let's give Condell a lot more grace and leeway than we're seeing here. It's early days, and he's had a qb change, and he's been handed a weak OL, and subpar RECs.

He's an upgrade from last year, and is creating a lot more open mid zone sits. And he's flashed some of the ideas that made 19 and 21 Hamilton great.

Maybe if the O players stopped playing like butt Condell would look better.  And I'm not saying Condell is without blame, that's for sure, but I think he's doing ok so far, and has upside.

The Jul 27 Younger presser is worth a listen.  He basically spells out that they thought CGY/VAJ would do CGY/VAJ things and try to sling it, and he spells out that they instead morphed into a lot of dink & dunk & run.  And that we couldn't adjust in time.

I said pre-game that every team should know by now that the way you beat WPG is to dink & dunk like SSK.  Our whole D is designed to stop the slingers, and designed to basically always give up the 6-10Y short game.  So why would anyone ever sling against us except in a maybe one-off each quarter once they've lulled us into tightening up on the dink & dunk?

I fear for when we meet max D&D SSK... I have no faith whatsoever that anyone has thought even one moment about how we're going to stop that powerhouse that plays to our weaknesses.  Because if we did have a "Stop The D&D Plan" ready to go, we would have pulled it out vs CGY!!

He also talked about the bust on the RB on a post-go because the RB wasn't schemed for, or at least whoever had the RB didn't perceive the threat.  It's a great scheme by CGY, that they will use to great effect all season, because D's usually scheme SAM for the RB, but SAM is usually the slowest DB.  CGY using a top-speed returner as RB, and taking advantage of the SAM mismatch, will be brutal for D's to adjust to.  Too bad we had to be the very first guinea pig CGY showed it to  >:(  >:(

This teams seems as good as last years team. It will finish around 10-8 and isn't good enough to win 2 playoff road games in a row.

This is 100% a Brady problem. He says this multiple times every year.

That said, obviously we're not optimizing our game plan lately. Condell is making some head scratching moves that we need to improve on. And a lot of the things he should be doing would seemingly help with the new QB and weaker OL.
My wife is amazing!

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 27, 2026, 05:55:05 PMCaught Brady at the end of the CJOB Post Game Show in the Audio Vault and he sounded depressed, it's obvious he doesn't like the direction Condell is taking the offence right now and he isn't wrong. Past evidence shows between Zach and Brady they can get an OC fired if he can't figure out how to make the offence hum. Emptying the backfield should never be done when the Bomber QB's are under pressure all game long.

Also caught Strev working with the CJOB crew on the broadcast, don't know if he was working for free as a guest spot but his knowledge, input and enthusiasm was excellent. No doubt he's going to get a permanent CFL broadcast gig by next season, possibly on TSN.  Can't even watch the half-time show anymore, it's gone from serious discussion to a clown show.

I sure hope so, and I hope he can displace Luke Willson into oblivion.  Strevy likes the cfl and has passion and knowledge - Willson just beaks Bob Irving on social media like a child and does not add much scent more circus atmosphere.  I hope he's forgotten soon.

Wilson seems to have changed his tune since becoming a commentator on games. He is more respectful of the game and the players. He's pretty enthusiastic. He's also more of an x's and o's guy than someone like Suitor, which I find much more interesting, compared to Suitor droning on about one fixed talking point multiple times per game.

Hasn't changed at all. He's just only commenting on gameplay while on the air. The guy just took another shot at Bob Irving last week.

I'm not on twitter so I guess I missed that. I guess he has another side to him, depending on his platform.

Suitor has been out of the game for at least 30 years, he breaks down plays so even Grandma can understand what he's talking about, which was the style in his day.  Unfortunately Grandma passed away over 20 years ago and isn't tuning in anymore.

Each and evert person on the TSN broadcasts has their own personality, some like them, some don't, but overall, they bring a very authentic, very unpolished actually, and non-robotic broadcast, unlike the NFL, where every announcer sounds the same. TSN has brought on some new blood recently ie Dustin, Marshall, Luke and its their sincerity and uniqueness that I actually like, it sounds very 'Canadian' to me, even Mr. Suitor, and Mr. Monotone Ford.

Well this Grandma is still alive and attending games.  I am still tuning in but I've been following football for over 60 years, just don't like some of the rule changes or the lack of continuity of the refs and command center.
