So, Brown finished 25/31 for 339 yards. Not sure anyone predicted that other than the lone vote for breaking Matt Dunigan's record.

QuoteI expect him to come out a bit rusty, seeing as how he hasn't played in a long while--hurt last year and didn't play this year. Plus he has new personnel to work with. But once he gets on track, he'll be fine. He'll hit 300 yds
I said he'd hit 300

Quote from: blue_or_die on July 10, 2026, 03:16:53 PMI chose 200. Not because I'm not a Dru believer, I just have a hard time expecting Condell and Osh to give him a long leash in game 1. I think we will play dink and dunk (which gets lots of yards overall I suppose) and to sling it up at unexpected moments with some success. I'm cautiously optimistic on how Dru will do in these specific circumstances. If he gets better protection than I expect then I'm sure it'll be closer to 250/300.

It also depends on if our gameplan is centred around Brady, which it probably will be (and should). If he's putting us in 2nd and medium every time, then it's probably 50% chance max that we're passing on second down. Only if our run game is failing and we're down early (sadly, I've come to expect that) that we begin to go throw-first and even then it'll probably be conservative.

Hope I'm wrong and it's 450 tho

Dru did spread the ball a lot in terms of target depth, as I requested.  What I didn't see coming was that Pokey of all people would be his fave target.

I really liked how instead of Zach's fave mid-zone sit Dru was dialing in lots of zone in-strides.  That's basically why we got big yards & TDs.  Normally we'd do the sit and they can't get going fast enough to beat incoming zone closers.  But in-stride we're already going 100mph and the DBs can't make the stop in space.

Short game also worked much better.  He had just enough zip and faster wind-up that the DBs couldn't make it back up in time.

2nd Dru pass of the game is an everyone-curls -- and it worked!!  That's how it's supposed to go!

Let's keep in mind, that while teams have tons of film on Dru, and pretty much know who he is, they do not have film on Dru with this O.  Decent "backup" QBs often look really good in their game 1, and maybe game 2.

But as teams get more film, these QBs tend to lose their lustre a bit.  Of course, great ones rise above that even with film.  My point is, we don't know which of these Dru is yet.  So before some call for Zach to be cut, let's keep this in mind.

Also, as PJ pointed out on other thread, TOR's D is ranked very low, if not last.  Ripping apart the worst D isn't a huge accomplishment per se.

Dru made a couple of plays navigating the pocket that would have resulted in Collaros sacks.

He looked really, really good for two days of practice or whatever.

Maybe Zach could use another week off?

Dru looked great. One practice with the starters.

The deep interception it looked like Pokey made a cut deep on the route that he either wasn't supposed to or Dru certainly wasn't expecting. Collaros was going over stuff with Wilson on the tablet right after so I wonder if Pokey maybe made the mistake there that led to the pick.

Even if ZC feels good. Ride the hot hand. Let Dru try and rack em up on Ottawa. If at any point he struggles for a half our gets nicked at all then go back to ZC, but not before.
