No that it matters but he seems loyal to himself first and foremost, and then the team to which he's contractually obligated.

And that's his prerogative.

We're not going to find out until they release the depth chart.

The only practice is today. It's closed to fans and media. I'm sure Zach will be on the field and the injury report will call it a limited practice regardless of if he takes every snap or doesn't take any.

Osh will milk it for all it's worth... like any good coach, although O'Shea seems to take a personal joy in vague statements and obfuscated injury classifications.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 08, 2026, 05:07:56 PMI don't see Lawler having a huge ego, he's seems pretty laid back.  Can't fault a guy for earning as much money as he can in the short time he has to do so.

Uh... then you haven't seen all of his pressers and mid/post-game interviews.  He's come right out and said he's the best, and deserves the best.  And he has that stance and snoot look every time he's on camera -- looking down at everyone.

But whatever, as we've been hearing a lot on TSN lately, REC is an ego position.  If they don't think they are the best they probably aren't.  Of course, that doesn't mean they have to take it to Kenny levels!

I'd be more OK with Kenny being so snooty if he wasn't so darn low IQ.  Probably thinks he's a genius!  He's not as good as he used to be.  The veneer started to rub off when he put that foot OOB on 2nd down in the '24 GC...

Masoli retired. Guy was beat to a pulp.

Many sportsmen "retire" and come back PDQ.  Didn't MBT "retire" like twice?  Michael Schumaker?  Countless USA basketball & football stars...

If Masoli kept working out rather than getting a big beer gut, I have no doubt he can pick up where he left off.  Now, whether he should do it... ya, probably not.

However, if there was any team that would be perfect for "don't hit me" Masoli, it could be HAM with their superb pass-pro and unlimited REC targets!  I bet HAM already called him up and he said "na brah, I'm really done done".

Derek Taylor says that since he's been here anytime that Zach didn't get the full practice, he also didn't start.  He says he wants Dru Brown but not sure what they will do. It could be either Brown or Elgersma since no one saw who took the starting reps in the closed practice.

Collaros only played 13 games in 2025. One game was due to a suspension issue. Another game IIRC was a game where we played mostly back up players?

However he seemed to miss 1/2 of several games due to upper body injury / concussion protocol.  Three I think.

My point is that he already missed 1/2 of game 4 and now is sitting out game 5. I'm not a doctor but that hit didn't appear to be one that should knock a player out of a game other than precautionary.

The team may be looking at his best interests but IMO we're reaching a tipping point. How much longer or how often can we continue down this road?

It's been discussed that if a player can't practice, why not just put him on the 6 game IR? It's not clear if or when he can practice again. If this is another concussion protocol, should he be allowed to return to practice? When is enough, enough with risk to his future health?

Hopefully Brown plays well. It's good to have a good backup which protects us from these situations. Does Collaros return as the starter regardless of how Brown plays, when he returns to practice?

The end may be nearer than we think or hope.

I think Brown will light it up and we could move on from Collaros, but we won't , that's not MOS style, he'll go back to Collaros, who won't do as well as Brown but will remain our starter until he gets hurt again or retires

Regularly missing games is one reason he should be paid significantly less than full marquee salary, good chance this trend continues this season with Zach missing another 3-4 partial games.  One solid hit and he's taken out of the game, not difficult for hungry D-linemen to pick up on that key to victory.

Yes. Aside from the lack of continuity for the team, his personal well being is a concern. Good point about the SMS level.

The more time Collaros misses, the more I'm convinced this is his last season. Or at least it should be.

It made sense to re-sign Zach for 2026 because we did not have much in the way of an alternative (although he was overpaid). Now we do, and it will be interesting to see how Brown does. I still remember him coming in after Zach got injured against Edmonton, and leading us to a comeback victory while looking like a much better QB than Zach. Lots of water under the bridge since then, with both QBs older (although that's only a problem with Zach) and with significant injuries. Not sure how Drew will do, he probably only has part of the playbook to work with and limited familiarity with his receivers, but interesting to see how it goes. Should be a beautiful night tomorrow weather wise. Suspect the Argos will put up too many points on the board for us to keep up, but you never know.

he moved on from Matt Nichols...with Collaros.  If Dru Brown plays like Collaros did when he got here then the call may be made.  Timing in the season is very different but MOS does move on.

Dru Brown has a sharp mind with a fragile body, they have to figure out how to protect him from damage, he needs to enroll in a crash course at the Matt Nichols/Trevor Harris school of self preservation.
