Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: dd on July 11, 2026, 08:30:06 PMAgreed, but there is a sigh of relief throughout the city knowing that Brown can step in and we don't miss a beat, if anything our offense is more potent with him in it due to his scrambling ability and I didn't see any recievers outrunning the passes and holding up for the ball, Brown can hit them anywhere on the field and that forces the D to play honest

True but it will take Zach getting knocked out of the game for O'Shea to make the switch again, unless losses continue to mount they will eventually reach the Drew Willy/Matt Nichols moment, with pressure coming from above to make the change.

Oh ya, we all know the script it's just we're in a waaaaaay better place now than we were pre-trade. We traded for a Qb to succeed our last decent Qb and we went and did the same thing here.

Brown isn't known for a huge arm.  He's much more like Zach than Alexander.  Zach can do 50Y point-to-point, 55Y-60Y if he's *really* pushing his limits.  Dru is maybe that +5Y.

Quote from: TBURGESS on July 11, 2026, 02:40:02 PMAfter last night, I'm ready to move on from Collaros.

Wow.  You guys are talking crazy talk!

It's one game!  Remember how Drew Willy came in and lit it up and looked like the saviour we needed to save us from the Brohm's of the world?  Was he good?  No.  He had a secret weapon called "no film".  Same with Dru.

Dru might be the 2nd coming (of Dru, lol), but we can't know that right now.  In any event, he didn't put up 450 and 5TDs or anything like the CFL slingers do on their best nights.  Keep in mind we also stalled drives and tried FGs 6 times.

Quote from: Blue In BC on July 11, 2026, 02:28:48 PMWe don't know the extent of the injury to Collaros but I can imagine we might leave him on the IR for 1 more game. If it was any other team than the Redblacks maybe not. Argos defence is not that good and I mentioned that before the game.

MOS pretty much spelled it out in the pre-game (I think), where he basically said it's all precautionary and Zach thinks he can play now.  It's the same old tale, and it will be the same old result.

The only time they ever held him more than 1 week was when his neck was really acting up.  I think this time it's just mini-concussion precaution.

Quote from: Sway on July 11, 2026, 02:19:38 PMHas there ever been a player who will concede his spot for the betterment of the team?  Zach will still get his 500k.

Pretty sure if hades froze over and the pigs were flying we could cut Zach before his vet cutdown date (which is probably pretty early).  The bonuses & guaranteed $ would be lost, but there'd probably be some savings.

In reality, if we wanted to shed Zach (which we don't), we'd aim a trade at HAM and recover all the Dru 1RDPs and more.  I would say though that the trading Dru to HAM is just as likely as trading Zach!!  But neither will happen.

Aside: if we're trading for 2 1RDPs, I'd also nab a player, but the SMS structure means that only an ELC superstar would buy us anything.  Does HAM have any ELC superstars in positions we need?  That's how you win the cup.

Y'all are forgetting I think Dru spent more time on IR the last 2 years than Zach did!!  At least Zach only ever misses 1-2 games at a time, except maybe that once it was a bit longer (neck).

If Zach had played for Ottawa he would have retired by now due to a mouth. Ottawa is terrible

A trade could be worth it for the Ti-Cats if it gets them into the playoffs, by mid-season most of Zach's contract would be paid off by the Bombers and they could easily dump him in the off season if Bo is ready to come back.

Nope.  Zach is a Bomber until he retires.  My guess at the end of this season.  Dru Brown may be the QB of choice and heir apparent at this point but there is no way they will trust TE13 as the back up until he proves he can be the back up. One game is an indicator not proof positive he is yet.  Until that time, Zach remains on the roster.
