@Tecno a Rider receiver ran into a DB again and Toronto got the DPI penalty.

You think that was another designed play?

Yes, I do, I thought so from when Oulette did it the previous game as it was second and long and Oulette deliberately ran into the opposing DB and immediately looked for the flag as did Trevor Harris. This definitely was a strategy that we should also be doing until they change the rule. To me the DB should be allowed to hold his ground and if the O player runs into him then no foul.

chad kelly while a sub par human might be the best qb in the CFL - top 3 for sure.

I think Bo, Harris, Alexander and Rourke are all better but yes a strong case could be made for top 3 (Harris's stock is currently high due to GC imo), Kelly could be best, maybe in a couple years.

Throws a fantastic ball, is durable and has good mobility.  Too bad he couldn't learn from his past mistakes and become a good person.  Unchecked male ego is a scary thing at times.

That was a fun game to watch, but I don't see us beating either team.
Plan for the worst. Hope for the best.

3rdand1.5

Watching two defences play aggressive, hustle to the ball, play extremely physical, just showed me more how ours is not good enough to compete this year.

It was a good game, and yes Chad had/has personal issues, but as a QB he has looked great this year so far.

Agreed, I dunno if it's just me but the other teams seem to have a quickness and intensity that the Bombers lack.

And Kelley does look closest to NFL caliber QB in CFL right now, for better or worse ..... meaning pocket passer who doesn't just throw it within .5 seconds of snap

if he wasn't a tool with his name he would be on an NFL PR.

The more I watch other teams, the more I'm convinced we're not making the playoffs this year. Was a mistake to re-up Walters and O'Shea for another 3 years. Misplaced loyalty by wade IMO, based more on past accomplishments, and ignoring the recent deterioration in the team over the past several years.

Toronto will kill us, Kelly will fillet our defense. Sask with their dink and dunk lame offense, we can beat that

Interestingly, Kelly-style O might be what the Younger D is built for.  A slinger who takes way too many devil-may-care chances.  If we can disrupt him even a bit (big if), our soft zone max-coverage could finally pay off.  Same applies to Rourke.

Again, I think the opposite.  The Younger scheme is incapable of stopping the short game.  That's how EDM beat us, and a lot of what HAM did.  It's also how SSK beat us every game in 2025.  And how we lost the '23 & '24 cups.

We'd have to see some very novel D schemes to have any hope of stopping SSK.  We should look at the handful of plays TOR did that really worked against them and duplicate that.  And bring back the '21-'23 stop-SSK Hall book.

Kelly's a chucker.  He just heaves it up and hopes for the best, because he connects enough (to those tall RECs) that the gains fully offset the INTs.  He's got a good mind, reads fast, and is never indecisive.  And a cannon arm that still has a nice touch.

If I had my pick of any young QB in the league, I'm still taking Alexander (assuming his hammy holds up for a long career)... but my second choice would be Kelly.  Those 2 should win a lot of GCs over the next 5-10 years.

Ya, this is another mugging.  But a bit different than the other week mugging by SSK.  This time the ball is out before the mugging.  That doesn't matter from a rule/penalty standpoint, but it is a slightly different scenario.

Harris doesn't have to be in on it this time, it could just be the REC trying to make sure they get a DPI on his own (or with coaching help: "wink wink").  The RECs all know by now that if they wham the DB past 5Y they'll likely get a free IC or DPI.  Or maybe Harris trusted his REC to mug successfully.

I think the DB could possibly not draw a flag if he kept his hands totally down (or raised up, though that usually looks suspicious).  The problem is most times the DB will be doing a "don't knock me down" little push of his own -- then it looks like mutual combat rather than a mugging, and that lets them throw the flag.  This goes back to when MOS made Sayles wear oven mitts in '18.

I would be curious to see if a DB, knowing a mugging was coming, had his hands completely away from the REC and allowed himself to get plowed and probably knocked over.  Then the mugging might be too obvious, and even if the refs missed it, you might win an OPI challenge.  At least we'd see how command would handle it.

It's interesting the booth guys noted that the refs had a pretty long conference about this one.  Maybe the league is taking note that these muggings are influencing games, and it's not the type of play they want to encourage.  No one gets excited by a DPI flag.  (Doesn't help my fantasy team at all!)

One more note, this time there is a possible "innocent" explanation, should you be wearing green.  Harris could just be seeing a matchup he likes and thinking the REC has outside leverage and the deep zone DB is too far to catch up to the corner route.  And it does look like the TOR muggee thought the pass was to the short out route -- he may have been wanting to cheat up to get an INT.
