Quote from: blue_or_die on October 23, 2026, 07:13:16 PMI think this trade went about as well as could be expected given the terrible position Helle put us in.

- We get a "today" piece in Mercer to add some very much-needed scoring:
2025/26: 20G/42P
2024/25: 19G/36P
2023/24: 20G/33P
2022/23: 27G/56P
2021/22: 17G/42P
Played ALL 82 games in each of those years. I think we put him at 2C and let Viggo develop (I'm not sure if I totally agree he should be sent down but I think this is what will happen). FWIW, I saw some online stuff about Devils fans being frustrated that he wasn't surrounded by good enough players and he has a higher ceiling, and if that's true, Vilardi will help in that department. Might be good to put Iaffalo back up there with him too for more vet support and speed.

- We get a future piece in Command

- We get some depth in Bjugstad and Daws. I don't think we need either but they are fine.

- The picks are likely meaningless but futures were always going to be a part of this deal

- We get the circus and the drama queen out of here and can focus on ourselves and players that want to be here

Not sure what others were expecting with our backs against the wall, but this is perfectly fine. Way better than the "pretty good backup goalie" we apparently absolutely had to have in return and a bag of used pucks.

Agree, we got some young talent. Bjugstad is 49.9% on faceoffs. I also done think we need Daws. And, Helli and the three ring circus of distraction has left Winnipeg.

Im very excited about Command. He and Bjork and Freyj and Sasha all would have grown up together and played on teams together.

This is big for player retention.

We will probably see all of them playing for Sweden in the World Juniors.

Freij has aged out and Bjork wont be released, but Command for sure.

Well, I think the youth injection experiment has failed. Maybe to many all at once. Rosen, Lambert, Vjorck, 3 points in 34 games. JM44 9th in team scoring and has only played 4 games. PP has been terrible since JM44 injury.

Appears the team is headed down that slushy slope of performance well below expectations, which sadly, is so similar to last season's results.
Absolutely agree that the "young gun" mix has, offensively, been a terrible failure to date.

Arniel and his staff are definitely, or should be, trending towards being removed.

McKenna 15 games, 5G/6A  11 points.
Stenberg 13 games, 3G/6A 9 points.
Bjorck 12 games, no points.

GV13 on the third line what was Arniel thinking. Like to see 81/55/13,  91/19/93. Need to get the 5 on 5 scoring going.

So, now that the Hellybuck saga is behind us, and there are no more distractions, what the fizzy is going on?

You'd think they'd have some focus back.

Is Mud to blame for the last game?  Was Daws brought in for a reason?  Are the Moose goalers ready?

JM44 is missed dearly, but one player should not collapse a team.

Yes, the youngsters need some puck luck.  Being this snake bitten is not a good thing.

13 is OK on line 2 or even 3 to help out, 91 seems OK on the top line.

Not sure how much rotating the young guns will spur their performance, or kill their spirit, or make the question the coach's confidence in them.

19 17 13 can be your 2 or 3 line, 61 36 27 as a line, and 44 93 9 for energy

Can you put 54 57 together?  Or do you need to spread them around, 54 4, 57 2?
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

JM44 is the QB on our PP. The PP has been terrible since his injury. This team has to score on the PP to compete, because this team just isn't good enough 5 on 5.

I believe you can mix and match any of our D-men. But I think once 44 is back it will be 44/2  54/4  38/57 or 77 or 24, because they can't send 77 back to the Moose without him clearing waivers. We need 77 for D-bag teams like the Panthers.
