Pundits saying he could sit out the year, baloney.  He won't miss a game even if he has to swallow his pride and put on his Jets uni.

Not sure I want him on the ice, won't make the team better with the tension.  The D might just let shots by, "by accident".

If he does report, maybe send him to the moose as backup...

He'd have to clear waivers to be sent down to the AHL. That obviously wouldn't happen, so such a move makes no sense.

He also have a no movement clause which I don't see him waiving to be sent to the minors.

I would be happy with Doan and Luukkonen from the Sabers for Helli.

Doan: Right shoot center $7M per. for the next 5 years

Luukkonen: $4.75 for another 3 years.

My hot take is that even without a top 3 goalie in the league, we're not prone to getting much worse because our problems were always the team in front of the goalie. We lack key talent behind our best players (who are, to their credit, very very good) and we also had a hard time extracting the best out of who we do have (coaching). Helle would have to play out of his mind to win games. He did not last year and the results speak for themselves.

So the hot take is this: if we get two very good (but not elite) players (say, a forward and a D) in a trade along with an Arniel mulligan, I think we will actually do considerably better than last year with Skinner and Milic. In other words, I don't think we absolutely need another goalie back in that trade. I'd rather use it on a skater.

And yes, I'm aware that finding a trade partner with those conditions is not straightforward.

My hot take is this is the beginning of the end.  Attendance will continue to drop and the team will relocate in 5-10 years
