Kelly has suspended his talks for a long term extension in TOR until after the season.

So, the after game discussion on field between Popp and Kelly wasn't just "Hi", it was "Our bid will be very high"

• Montreal wide receiver Tyson Philpot has been fined for committing a non-football action, taunting BC defensive back Cristophe Beaulieu.

Chad Kelly's agent is wanting Kelly's contract tied to a salary cap increase.

I doubt it will happen, but I posted this here as the agent is mentioning what happens if the salary cap goes to 8-10 million (currently at 6.33), based on the new TV deal.

A 10 million dollar cap would cause the average CFL salary to be, what, 200K a year?

The NFL minimum is 880K. There is the possibility that CFL could compete for lower end NFL QBs, like they used to (Bo Levi, Mike Reilly, Dunigan)

This seems like a treacherous path for the CFL to go down increasing the salary cap that dramatically is a gamble those revenues will not be yanked away from them a couple of years down the line, leaving them in a mess.  Best proceed with caution.

Pretty simple solution. Sign a short term contract. This agent is talking about 5-7 year deals, which is delusional in the CFL. This isn't hockey or baseball. Its football, carreers are shorter, and most money is not going to be guaranteed.

7 year deal with no guarantees, a base plus game play incentives, and a bonus based on a small % of the total cap. 

100% in the team's favour, they can dump out at any time with no penalty, why not?
