Blue In BC

This game was clearly to test those players in competition in the secondary. Looking at the DT stats those were the players that made the bulk of the work. Dixon made an impression with 5.

M. Williams and Texada played fairly well considering the Lions completed nearly every pass in soft coverage. Lamont I think moves to the PR.

I wasn't overly impressed with new receivers except for Singer and Frederickson.

Ok. Lets see what happens today and whether we have some players heading to the IR lists.

I'm not sure, but I thought Frederickson seemed to be willing to block. I noticed one effort, on a short yardage play where he was working hard against a d lineman.hes not flashy, but really good effort. "Gritty, lunch bucket, blue collar"

I don't want to jinx him but I think he will get a spot.

it sure seems like they've brought in some good d line players. Don't know the names, but some of those new guys are fast. 56 I think caught up to Rourke. Another guy chased down the third bc qb, got him by the foot. Those might be the tough decisions for the coaches.

Secondary guys didn't look great, but Imguess that's the hardest group to get together off the bat.

Elgersma sure throws well. I though He looked good. No happy feet, calm, looking around,  no dumb plays or giveaways.

I thought Elgersma did a good job of going through his progressions early in the game. Maybe he's not quite ready to be a starter at the end of this preseason. But he showed a big improvement in his process - largely being a point guard trying to get the ball into the hands of his playmakers. The only way that he progresses further is to get more playing time. If Zach goes down (knock on wood that this doesn't happen), he should be the guy to get the playing time. He's already better than Strev, in my opinion.

Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 01:03:01 PMI didn't notice him getting hurt so we'll see how that unfolds.

I guess the stream cut to the ad break overlay when Allen was writhing on the field then. Pretty obvious to those in the stands.

He went down away from the play with no one around. Writhing holding his leg. I thought maybe cramp because it was so hot, and late in the game. But the trainers didn't work his leg at all! No usual cramp stuff.

After about 90s he's getting helped up and hops gingerly off, with some pressure on the bad leg.

I've seen this enough in person now that my money is on knee. How bad and what the final result for Allen is, is anyone's guess.

True dat. I think obby has gone all in on the politician thing hoping to be next premier.  No time left for business.

You'd think someone would buy it though, vs just disappear. Oh well. I'm thankful for the years he provided.

If it helps anyone, my son really loves the bourbon burgers in North concourse. My daughter likes the pizza pizza, though that's pretty plebian. We all find the chicken fingers to be ok too. I liked the Danny's whole hog sandwich, but I suppose that's gone this year with the new bbq concessions.

Not sure if you've noticed, but Obby has another iron in the fire of late.  I don't think shwarmas are his top priority, and its probably not a business that is profitable enough to be sold off.

There are plenty of shwarma shops in town.  Blady on St. Mary's is amazing.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

#56 is Ja'Kobe Clinton a LB, same guy that scored the pick six in PS#1, unfortunately as a LB he moves to the back of the bus but should earn a spot on the PR.

D-line showed some amazing flash, it's going to be difficult to determine who wins that competition.  Dixon and Jenkins are the main contenders but Reese and Fletcher also showed fantastic desire and ability to get after it.  My guess is they can only keep 2, and only one makes the AR. I like Jenkins best as a pure QB chasing maniac (reminds me of Kwaku Boateng) but Dixon has the better size and can probably help out at DT when needed.  M-Bailey and Gatkuoth made less impact than all of the above, but I guess one of them will find a spot on the AR and one on the PR anyway.

I expected M-Bailey and Gatkouth to make the AR. Mostly because we won't likely have a DL as a DI. Those two will be rotational players and have the advantage of ratio.

Having a 2nd global on the AR is not automatic if they have an extra Canadian they want to retain. I suppose it's flip a coin though. We traded up last year to get M-Bailey so parking him back on the PR seems counter productive.

The new 2 man reserve is interesting. I'm not sure whether to expect aging veteran back ups or rookies to be placed there. TBD

Figuring out who ends up on the PR shouldn't create big surprises.

If they both make the AR, there is no room left for one of these game changing rookies unless they increase the size of the D-line rotation above 6, which I hope they do.

Gatkuoth

Hoping they don't give a roster spot to Gatkuoth like they did Derell Patterson a couple of years ago, can't afford to have mediocre components taking up space on the D-line. Maybe he'll be ready someday but I don't think he's there yet, a year on the PR with a few intervals on the AR won't hurt.

Dlineman Arnold  young made some plays too

"At Montclair State (2023-2024), he recorded 61 tackles, 28.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, 18 quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries in 19 games.
After his breakout 2024 season, Young finished as the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-NJAC, and an AP Division 3 All-American Second Team honouree. Young also led the conference in tackles for loss (18.5), and sacks (10). He is the first Montclair State defensive lineman to be named an All-American since 1996."

I guess the people here complaining about no pressure from d line were right.

Although I think having fat boy Thomas as d line coach is the main thing. / kidding.

Bit nervous about Gatkuoth, did he impress at all? I could see both Dixon and Jenkins on regular roster

He also had that large lawsuit against Green Carrot which may have taken up a lot of money. I see most of his stores if not all are closed or temporarily closed now.

Some good battles last night. Texada and Williams at BD. Fredricksen and Singer (WR). Reese, Dixon, and Jenkins (DE). Fletcher, Pace, Young, (DT).
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Elgersma looked better. Has a strong arm, very controlled in the pocket, ran well when needed. A couple of high passes, and a bad drop by Singer.

Perkins loves to use his legs. I find he tries to feather the ball into receivers a little to much. Needs to make quicker reads. #3 good SY QB.
