Blue In BC

An all rookie starters in the secondary ( essentially ). Kelly listed as a starter at DHB.  Allen is in at safety.Well they will be tested that's for sure.

I prefer to see what the young guys can do in the home preseason game. That's what it's all about to me. I don't want our vets to get beat up, and I don't care at all whether we win or lose. LOL, with the way that O'Shea keeps Collaros in even when we are up by 30, this might be our one chance to see Elgersma or Perkins.

Definitely will be going into this game in evaluation mode with the intent to figure out who will stick and hopefully be a pleasant surprise this season. We always need several rookies to emerge as future stars or at least starter prospects. So this should be interesting, as fun as it is to watch starters play.

Looking forward to getting back to the stadium again. Love the first sip of the tailgate beer under the hot summer sun at my favourite place.

Maybe the fact that we seem to have a lot of vets nicked up is resulting in the heavy rookie lineup. We can't afford any significant injuries. With the mishmash on the oline Elgersma and Perkins better be able to run.

Luckily that's the one thing we know they can do.

We are really going to witness the absence of veteran guidance in that secondary and the true value of Kramdi's communication ability.  Allen was playing Safety for most of the last 4th Q in PS#1 and it looked obvious he couldn't begin to communicate what the coverage plan was to the young rookies.  I think without outside guidance he is a bit lost himself, not easy to fully assimilate the complexity of Youngers coverage schemes.  Got to be a reasonably smart cookie to follow the plan.

Haha man that's going to be a disaster.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on May 28, 2026, 05:55:17 PMWhat???  The Stamps are going to kick their butts sideways next Friday!  I thought O'Shea acknowledged they made mistakes in their pre-season planning last season resting vets, this looks worse!

You beat me to it.  MOS said in a couple of pressers, most prominently in a Nov/Dec '25 one, that he blew it not using camp and PS to get the vets ready and gelled.  He spelled it out.  There is no doubt.

Now he's making the same mistake.  I'm with TLB.  This is nuts.  I don't see any other team not dressing their O starters!

Quote from: Jesse on May 28, 2026, 06:21:20 PMI think that was actually two years ago. We had a "tough" pre-season last year and had a bunch of injuries to start the year - so it looks like we're going back the other way.

Nope, it was just a few months ago MOS said it.

It's going to be sad when BC & SSK & CGY are winning every single game in weeks 1-5 and we're going 30% trying to ramp up.  I pray I am wrong.
Never go full Johnston!

Quote from: gobombersgo on May 28, 2026, 05:44:11 PMNot a lot of expected starters in the roster for the Bombers for Friday.

It's also a gut punch to the fans who are bothering to buy tickets and traipse their butts out in 36C heat.  It's disrespectful to not even let them see their heroes for a series.

Remember the NFL PS game here?  Zero starters.  Ya, that level of disrespect.

Costs nothing to roster the starters and have them on field for 3 plays.

I don't want to be the guy who tells the Bombers what they should be doing on the field to make the fans happy, but I definitely do feel a little less excited to go now.

I want to see Elgersma, but would have been nice to see him with players who will still be around tomorrow.
My wife is amazing!

Looks like 31 for kick off. Glad I am on the west side in the shade.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Lions will be playing more starters but we'll see how long that goes. It may only be a couple of series but Rourke and Hatcher etc against essentially our rookies or non starters.

Can we do 3 things early in the game on defence:

1. Get very good pressure on Rourke?
2. Eliminate blown / beaten coverage for long gains.
3. Stop the run.

I don't care if we win per se but looking like we have no idea what we're doing would not be good. I'm not expecting that, but it can't be excluded considering all the rookies.

On offence all we need to do is not get any serious injury to either QB. They could be running for their lives.

31C means beer sales will be awesome.

No worries about running out of HC.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Seeing no starters doesn't really worry me. Having veterans means higher risk of injuries and it's a long season. Especially with the new rule changes getting implemented in the future, you only have to beat out one team to make the playoffs. Teams like us could definitely rest players, or at least take a more cautionary approach to injuries.

I hope JY dials up a ton of blitzes in the first qtr and goes after Rourke, 1 decent hit and hes out of the game
