And yet to this day Riders forum moans and whines that Demski was too slow and did too much dancing when wearing green.  Riders happily cut him and there was much rejoicing.  We didn't even have to offer him much to get him here.  I bet he was $25k-$35k over ELC when he first signed here.

Valid point about the draft level (I didn't know Demski was 1RDP) though.  However, Demski could have easily turned into an Etienne.  Draft level doesn't always mean everything (though Corcoran's is particularly low).
Never go full Johnston!

Quote from: BIGBLUE204 on May 22, 2026, 02:53:18 PMDemski's rookie season saw double the yardage on 3 more receptions, (his longest reception as a rookie comes up just 16 yards short of Corcorans entire year). Demski had 4 yards more per catch and 30 rushing yards. Plus the Punt returning and TD.

Again, per capita.  Demski was in nearly every rookie year game and seeing actual snaps, and was basically a full-time starter in year 2.

Ya, I'm not saying Corcoran is the next Demski, but it certainly is possible he can be more than what he showed in '25.  I never put artificial ceilings on guys who are that young.  Wait and see.  All I know is I saw his hands snag some Lawler-level quick/outside balls that for sure 80% of the other 5th-read CFL NATs would have whiffed on.  Ya, that's some talent you can possibly work with.

He's listed at the same size as Rasheed Bailey

Ya, I checked the stats.  I don't know why, but he seems like a small presence on the field to me.  Maybe you guys are right and it's just because he's slotted next to Clercius he seems small.

Blue In BC

Did I read somewhere that Thorne was coming back or was that just speculation?

Except they didnt cut him. They lost him in FA to his home town team. Odd argument to make that the rider fans didnt like him...i guess thats something?
I bet he was 100k over...I mean if we're just making stuff why not right?
GO BLUE!

Corcorcan dressed for all 18. Obviously thats not the same, but it wasnt like he was wearing street clothes all year. Again, youre just saying things without any actual proof. Not one of his catches were Lawler esc. Lol.

And my main point is, Demski (like some other rookies) showed flashes of dominance. Broke off huge games, flipped the field for his team. Demski was legit prospect that you could see had potential for stardom (regardless of how ssk fans felt). Corcorcan isnt that. Hes a blue collar get uou 300-600 yards a year guy. You dont have to believe me. But its the truth.

Yeah, Demski and Cororan are not in the same tier of prospect coming out of college.

Demski was a RB with the Bison. When he was with Sask he was lined up as a receiver, RB, he did kick and punt returns. He was also a couple of years younger than Corc coming out.

As to Sask cutting him, that obviously never happened. I think there was a rumour that he never got offered a deal with them to stay in Sask, but we all seemed to understand that was because the Bombers were going to beat any offer they made. This was a huge deal at the time:

"Nic Demski was coveted based on his pure athleticism and rare abilities as a combo receiver and returner. Winnipeg paid a $35,000 signing bonus and nearly $150,000 on the one-year deal Demski signed."
