Blue In BC

Quote from: Blueforlife on May 22, 2026, 07:42:18 PMWow didn't see this coming.  I thought Wilson might have the tools but I could see why he left.  He knew the pecking order.  Will be bring in 4th QB now? I would assume so.  What's the list?

Yeah, maybe we speak to one on our neg list that isn't drawing NFL interest. The dust should have cleared on whether they are on any teams radar.

It might also firm up a PR spot for Tachinski in the short term as a dual role player if needed in an emergency.

I'm not sure if the team is to blame for 2 departures of QB's or whether it's a combination of them seeing opportunity lost.
One game at a time

Sir Blue and Gold

Terry probably should have left mid way through the game where Streveler completed no passes or whatever for three quarters but was still in there "leading".

Quote from: Blue In BC on May 22, 2026, 07:42:40 PMHe was listed as # 3 for this pre-season game. I guess he felt he should be # 2 and was unhappy with not making progress.

Pre-season would've been his opportunity to show that. Pretty strange to just bail but I guess that shows he isn't FIFO material.

Elgersma is getting all the media attention and probably the reps as well, kinda surprised Wilson would not want to compete for the SY QB role, that job would put at least $85k in his pocket.

Caleb Evans and Tyrie Adams are still available, also recent cut Jarret Doege.

That would be helpful for the SMS as he only accepts payment in Doege Coin

The qb room realistically is what i predicted, but I hope it wasn't internally "set in stone" before camp started. Elgersma was going to be on the active roster no matter what. But the other spot should have been wide open. I felt that Perkins nfl experience and recent UFL season probably gave the team some confidence that he could handle the pressure if thrown in early in the season. But nothing I've seen really painted Perkins as a standout... though it looks like Thorne and Wilson may have believed the writing was already on the wall...

Evans tore his ACL in mid-August 2025. I'm not sure he is healthy yet.
Watching Adams play at the end of season reminded how small he is. Can he take a hit?
Doege is in BC.

If they weren't going to make the team, or didn't want to hang out on the PR, why wouldn't the Bombers just be up front with them about that and release Payton Thorne and Terry Wilson from their contracts? Seems unusual to go the suspension route. Keeps them from ending up on another CFL roster and disclosing the playbook, I guess.
Just gimme the rock.

Looks like Thorne changed his mind, that PR spot could be his!

Exactly. You keep their rights on the suspension list.

If Elgersma is not the SY QB (no reason to suspect he can't do the job), then I'd rather see us use MCI25 or DD73 as SY "QB".

With the DC not listing Wilson, I guess that's the slap...

No returner listed.. both DP kickers going, although they don't list Andrews as global.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

I don't like that "RB/FB is your SY" idea.  I don't think MOS does either.  The #1 argument against it is you still have to have a QB on the field!  So you're having 11 guys vs 12, because you'd have Zach out wide (with no protection, BTW) and he can't even run 5Y to take an uncontested catch.

You have these extra QBs forced-dressed, doing the ol' clipboard thing.  Get the biggest or quickest or shiftiest one to do SY.  As pjrocksmb used to say: end of.

I have a big hunch Elgersma has won the SY spot and that made Wilson much more expendable.

I knew someone would try to counter my Busby vs Corcoran!  The key here is PER CAPITA.  If Corcoran had started as many games, had as many GPs, and as many snaps & looks, he'd have Busby stats too.

Keep in mind SSK's entire game plan was quick short pass to EVERY PLAYER, including 17th read Busby.  All you needed to do was get a guy who could curl, be the least contested REC, and get you 4-6.

I promise you Corcoran could have done that just as well as Busby.  Probably better, because Busby has no hands.  But because

Don't get me wrong, Corcoran is no Demski, heck I'm not even positive he makes the team!, but as the 5th read "ratio help" NAT, you could absolutely do worse.
