Another thing that seems to have been made clear, we've seen the same guys in during every 1st team session. Eli getting all the first team reps at centre. McGhee getting all the corner snaps.

It's early, but so far it seems as if the positional battles were decided before camp started.

I hope that's not the case. We've seen that before.

I understand the track record but I'll keep an open mind for now. I think we'll see more movement as we get closer to the games and then coming out of them.

On the offensive line, it's hard to ask too much of new American players in the first week or so. They're still learning the yard off the ball complication and the CFL is still a pretty good sized jump from college programs (even good ones).

Boundary corner is plug and play to the US game but field corner is not. It's a bit of a ramp to get your head around how that spot works compared to what Americans are used to.

I think the approach is going to be a bit different compared to past years even if the first week or so is largely status quo.

Yeah when OShea starts talking about a guy(mcphee) in terms of how he likes his effort and how great a shape hes in, its almost game over He wil always go with the vet until theres almost no choice I do agree that a rookie has to earn his way onto roster but they do need the chance

Quote from: Pete on May 12, 2026, 11:47:38 PMHaving Kramdl in at safety is worrisome. Safeties have 3 main assets
1. Read offenses well
2. Makes receivers pay physically
3. Have some ball hawk in them

Could we be eyeing using Kramdi like Dequoy?  Isn't Kramdi fast-ish?  Give him free rein to rove and INT?  I do like the idea of having our FS do less run-stop.  If our LB/DL is beefier & better this season we might not need the DBs to save the day on run explosions.

Kramdi doesn't seem to have a great nose at SAM, but maybe he will at FS?  Much more time to view the field, O attack & QBs eyes.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on May 12, 2026, 01:48:01 PMKramdi is essentially a slot corner

Let's keep in mind Kramdi is now the brains of the operation, the true QB of the D.  MOS has spelled it out, we don't even need to speculate anymore.  As such, Kramdi is going to be somewhere.  There is no situation where we purposely don't have him start somewhere on the field and take the majority of reps.

Perhaps they are really working this FS role because the "QB of the D" can better direct the D from the middle of the field, rather than stuck way off to the side.  I think it's Kramdi that mostly made BA expendable.  So it wouldn't be a surprise if they moved him to BA's spot.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on May 12, 2026, 03:56:43 PMHell no, the inevitable is happening, JSK, Kyrie and Tony Jones are slowly heading towards the out door,

Yikes, harsh!  Jones is only 30, so it's not really fair to compare him to Kyrie (33).  JSK is only 31 and been having great seasons no matter where he goes.

Jones is coming off his best season ever -- by double!  And is fairly injury-history-free.

I'm pretty sure Jones is part of the long-term plan.  Kyrie is on the outs, but only because of age & injury history.  But he's one of the smartest D on the field.

What Shay & Smith need to be doing is soaking up all the wisdom around them.  Yes, they need to get more reps -- but not if they're going to lose games for us.

NOTABLE

-Three things from Day 3 of training camp:

The receiving corps working regularly with Zach Collaros has featured Nic Demski, Pokey Wilson, Tim White, Tommy Nield and Gavin Cobb as the third Canadian. Both Michael Chris-Ike and Dante Daniels are also getting a lot of work in the fullback/tight end role.
The players getting early work as kick returners are star Trey Vaval along with receivers Jayden Harrison, Key'Shawn Smith, Dorian Singer and Bryce Kirtz.
QB Taylor Elgersma got some second-team reps today and continues to flash his arm strength.

I had Cobb as a depth PR guy.  Where are Clercius & Corcoran?  Maybe you guys are right, is Clercius at risk of being cut?

Which other DB's are competing at CB now? We have about 8 newbies on the roster but some will be inside, some will be capable of playing outside too.

Santos-Knox transferred to 6 game IR. That's very unfortunate for him and the team. He could have been a valuable piece on our defence. It's possible he's finished for the season if rumours of achilles are accurate.
