QuoteThe Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed head coach Mike O'Shea and general manager Kyle Walters to three-year extensions that will run through the 2028 CFL season, the team announced on Monday.

O'Shea, 55, has been at the helm of the team since he was hired in December 2013.

Walters was named the 17th GM of the franchise in 2013.

The Bombers finished this season 10-8 and fell to the Alouettes in the Eastern Semi-Final.

O'Shea moved to seventh all-time in CFL history for coaching wins this season, surpassing Bob O'Billovich (107) and Dave Ritchie (108).

Over 11 seasons with the club, O'Shea has compiled a 117-77 record and two Grey Cup championships in 2019 and 2021.

The Blue Bombers have reached the playoffs in nine consecutive seasons and lost three straight Grey Cups from 2022-24.

Totally knew it.  1 year for MOS wouldn't make any sense.  You can't do squat in 1 year, even if it's an extension.  And it's virtually unheard of in the CFL anyhow.

I hope MOS/KW really take a look at their personnel failures in '25 and come up with a solution.  I also hope that they work with Hogan/Jarious to try to come up with a planned identity for the O.  Go to my "OL, not REC" idea, or come up with something else -- anything else.  What is clear is the teams that plan an identity/scheme when doing the player hiring will fare better than the one-size-fits-all approach.

In other words, I don't think its a "puzzle piece" approach this year, I think it's a "rethink the entire O" situation.  And this makes it different from every FA since '19.
