Quote from: M.O.A.B. on November 01, 2025, 10:12:00 PMI don't think Miller is to blame. It's Walters and O'Shea.

Miller is in charge so yes he is partly to blame.

I'm not sure what you would have wanted him to do. Miller wasn't going to let anyone go heading into this season. He got sellouts every home game.

He might have some work to do now and some choices to make but I don't think you can fault him too much.

wade did his job.  i don't think firing walters mid season was ever an option this season.

wade may have some decisions this off season though.

Well for one, he could have insisted we replace the All stars we lost this year with talent proven replacements cheaping out and going the route we did. Second, he could have insisted we replace the experienced OC we lost with again, someone with proven experience at the position. Nope, cheaped out again. We got exactly what we deserved and Miller shoulders some of the blame, as does MOS and KW. I don't think anyone gets fired, but they have to own up to massive gaffs they made this year.

in the accountability matrix i don't think wade is going to do any of those things.  he hires people to make those decisions and he trusts them to make them.  is he a micro-manager who meddles in the accountability of others??  not sure. he may discussions with kyle and mike about things but i suspect he is going to defer to their expertise.

Well I for one question their 'expertise' in replacing those impact players we lost via FA, heck we still haven't replaced yoshi from 2 years ago. You have to replace impact players with impact players and regular joes with regular joes, but don't expect a regular joe to replace an impact player x 4!!!!

Sir Blue and Gold

Honestly, most of this falls on O'Shea.

We had a ton of different options in training camp and he cut most of them.

We have better defensive ends right now on the one game.

He went with an off the radar, under qualified rookie offensive coordinator.

He bought JY's scheme that really flies in the face of a lot of the generally agreed upon defense theory.

He stayed too loyal to his veterans who weren't producing.

And the biggest: he seems to have prioritized culture ahead of results and production, like the culture is the point in and of itself. That was exposed over and over this year for what it is, a very bad miscalculation.

This was the year we should have gone way over the Cap to make sure we had the roster to make the Finals.
If only we had a home Grey Cup one of these past years.

Yah, maybe if they would have given Zach a $200k bump he would have played better.

Spending money is not a guarantee of more success. The Lions when they did that with Reilly and then last year with Rourke as examples.

Quote from: Blue In BC on November 01, 2025, 08:11:29 PMThat sums it up pretty well.

Brady fumble and Willie face mask sealed the deal for the Als.

By in large the defence cost us the game although they had 2 good turnovers. However they gave up 550+ yards and that by any definition is pure horse crap.

There have been many concerns about talent level being not good enough and that showed today. 4 plays 39 yards or longer and that early PI.

It's time to move on from Jefferson as the starting point of the re-build. He's expensive and was in coast mode all year.
Agree with most of this but I don't think Jefferson was in coast mode this year. He's just gotten old and slower, less impactfull and his easy going nature sometimes makes him look less intense.

Not his fault also that they failed to bring in any decent D-line guys to help him out. Vauters was never great and over the hill when they brought him in. He was mostly a not impactfull. Jake Thomas - enough said.  The only decent d-line pressure was last week when the two new guys flew around and then weren't dressed.

I give Willy a pass this year. But next year he should be replaced or at a minimum be in a rotation with new faster guys like the two from last week (can't be bothered to look up their names but we know who).

Our Bombers lost. But I enjoyed another great year at the stadium. Win or lose they always entertain and can't be disappointed with the past 5 years of Bomber football.

We need to flush our entire D line. They are slugs. Slow. Get no push or penetration. Keep Lawson as a NAT, but Thomas, Vaughters and Jefferson should be gone. Willie is too sloooooooow out there. Look at Calgary's D line, where the heck did they get those guys from. Complete rebuilt D line in 1 off season. It can and must be done if we are going anywhere next year. There is no room for sentiment here. We moved on from Harris and Biggie, now its jefferson's turn. All gave great years of service and leadership, but it's time.

If Jefferson was a DI at a much lower salary then it would be a different issue. The problem is that is where rookies need to be found on ELC contracts. Limited roster size, DI's and ratio work against him.

Quote from: Sir Blue and Gold on November 01, 2025, 08:05:47 PMOliveira isn't worth $250,000.

Too much money going to too many players who didn't make a difference.

Our best players were on ELCs or cheap contracts.

Can't win like that.
I dunno I disagree about Brady Oliveira being not worth it.

Not too many Canadian running backs out there rushing for a thousand yards for the past 5 seasons. And for the third year in a row is the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' most outstanding player and most outstanding Canadian. Previous winner of the Outstanding Player and the league's Most Outstanding Canadian award.

And he is only 28 years old. I think we should keep him.

But sure.  A full roster review is needed this off season. Oliveira is the only untouchable (maybe add Tony Jones, Evan Holmes).
