I've noticed clercius whiffing on a block on a short sideline pass.

Just one play, but maybe he's not a great blocker.

If Corcoran is a better blocker, put him in.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on October 30, 2025, 06:13:26 PMWith Demski's injury can't risk not dressing Cobb and Corcoran as the receiver backup, not sure this is a good time to mess with Clercius, he's been steady if not spectacular, but Corcoran is not going to reach spectacular either, so leave it alone.

Injury and roster decisions are always a risk. Corcoron will be the backup receiver. Cobb has only played 4 games and has 6 receptions for 51 yards. Corcoron is only marginally better with 10 receptions for 88 yards in 18 games as a back up.

If Demski doesn't play, or plays and can't perform due to injury existing or re-injure, it's a moot thought about a back up.

That said, is Cobb on the roster a better choice than Ball, Hallett or Bailey? Ball and Hallett each have 9 ST's as regular ST players in less than 18 games.

Today's IR report is not encouraging that Demski will play so this can go either direction. I understand the risk to play and the risk not to play. Sudden death on Saturday.
One game at a time.

In theory, they would have made those assessments in general during TC. Blocking is a significant part of being a starting receiver. Those that go to games in the stadium would have more input. Can't really tell on TV.

A missed block or many poor blocks would be things looked at each week based on assignment and results.
One game at a time.

Cool Spot

Wasn't Demski (slightly) injured during the 2023 Grey Cup as well?

This is where we miss Bailey imo  He was a good blocker.

He had an injury going into last years playoffs.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Woli was also a very good blocking receiver.

And more severely injured in the '21 (I think) GC -- the one he went up to accept the MOC and clearly had a collar bone issue or something and didn't celebrate like all the other guys.

Lots of guys can play through lots of dings.  The key is to not have something that stops you cold, like a knee blow up.
Never go full Johnston!

Quote from: Mick on October 30, 2025, 07:24:45 PMAll things considered. We are quite healthy compared to other teams for this time of year.

Maybe, until you remember Schoen.  Schoen & Demski are clearly our #1 and #2 RECs, and to enter the post-season with neither is not ideal.

SSK & BC are pretty healthy, in comparison.  The injury luck didn't necessarily go our way again.

That's awesome.  But how many times a season are 4 East games in one weekend?  Or did you mean over 2 weekends?

I dunno, if Demski is out, the world gets really dark, really quick. That would mean we've lost our #1 and #2 reciever, yikes. Wilson becomes our big threat and Sterns, who was cut by the Riders, our #2 man. That's a big drop off from Schoen and Demski. I think we're going to have to game plan around that- read run the ball, more, run a ground and pound game, maximize time of possession, and pray our ST and D come up with a TD or 2!!

Zach has to make use of every receiver, (which he rarely does), laying it all at Pokey's feet is bound to fail. Wheatfall, Sterns, Clercius, Cobb and Brady are all capable of contributing if Zach can get them the ball on time, in space.  He has to throw passes like he trusts every receiver and not get behind and slip into desperation mode.

I agree, but on the other hand, zach practices with these guys day in and day out, and has a very good feel for who can and who can't make a play for him, hence why he favours certain receivers and I don't blame him.

Dequoy and Ento will figure out his favourite 5 minutes into the game, they seriously can't follow the same script without variation, they are no longer the best team.

If we have any chance to win, it will be on the back of defense and special teams. Offense without Demski or an injured Demski could be ugly. They will stuff the box and try to take away our running game. Hogan is not suddenly going to become an offensive genius, especially against Thorpe who will run rings around him. If we hold MTL to under 25 (preferably under 20 with inclement weather) we can win, if not, I don't have much hope.
