35 mins in... CFL desperately needs a tuck rule.  When the QB is pulling it back in on a rethink and fumbles, it should be a fumble.  Every season this happens once or twice.  Always irks me.  They get saved by being incompetent butter fingers.  You want to talk about a "reward for failure"...

The problem with SSK is they are playing with attitude like they are the best.  They aren't.  But they think they are.  That is almost as dangerous.  Morale and mindset is a third of the game.

2021 Bombers would waste this sad sack team.  This SSK team is probably the worst team to actually win the west in a long time.

If by some miracle they make it to the cup, Alexander/MTL will waste them.  If they don't win the WDF (hopefully at the hands of us) they'll fall back to earth real quick.

I'll hand it to Mace making these guys actually believe.  That's some first class coaching.  If Dickenson The Lesser was still the guy they'd be just as sucky as their missed-playoff years.  I guess taking the guys bowling every week isn't the preferred way to run a team.

Boy, AH33 isn't just a RB coach there.  He's beside Mace and all buddy-buddy as much as Mike Miller or Boudreaux are/were beside MOS.

If AH33 is a future legit coach (one of the "big 3", not just a RB coach) then we may have made a huge mistake kicking him out of WFC.  He certainly has upped mediocre-Oullette's game by leaps and bounds.

Oullette said in an interview the other day that no one hypes him up like AH does, and that he's the best in the world at it.

Doege head-turf hit before halftime -- once again showing why QBs should be wearing something to protect back-of-head-to-turf hits.  This shouldn't be rocket science.  This is basically the hit that takes Zach out 90% of the time.

Where are all the fans?  Pathetic turn out for a wins-the-west game with 19C weather.  Shame on you SSK fans.

Quote from: Pete on October 11, 2025, 02:09:09 AMeearlier this year Dimwiddie had said that he couldnt put Kelly in this year cause he doesnt trust his oline ..you can see why

The TOR OL is at least as good as ours, on paper.  They still have guys from the last GC, where they had the best-in-league OL.  But ours is on the uptrend, TOR is in the "we suck" downward mind-virus spiral.

And I'm not sure I believe that statement anyhow.  Crap OL or not, you need your star QB in to win games.  If Kelly was magically healthy all season, TOR would be fighting for 1st or 2nd in E, regardless of OL.  Kelly's mobility can easily make up for weak hoggies.  Not like Arbuckle hasn't had decent protection most of the season!

2Q1:59 The great "catch" by Emilus on the rail while being pushed out: THIS IS THE EXACT SAME CATCH THEY STOLE FROM KENNY IN THE '24 GC.  This is really aggravating.

They said Kenny's catch was not a completion because his heel touched the rail after the toe touched in bounds.  Same thing just happened here.  But for Emilus they call it complete.

And then booth guys say on the replay that "this is a new rule" where the Kenny GC thing is now counted as a catch.  Did anyone else hear about this change??  I didn't.  And it's not in the rulebook under the "new for 2025" changes.

Did anyone else hear about this change?

Not like it helps us win that cup -- too little too late.  It's a stupid rule anyhow where you can literally touch any other part of your body to the rail and it's complete, but heaven forbid your heel touch.

There was a UR on the play, my question is why are defensive players allowed to drive the Qb backwards in a clear attempt to injure him?? That play should be taken out, if the defender chooses to drive the Qb backwards into the turf, give him a RP 25 yder and kick him out of the game. not Sure what Qb s could wear to protect their brains from that trauma, the solution is eliminate the boneheads making the play. Remember when fat D linemen used to body slam their weight down on a Qb, well, they eliminated that, they've eliminated to suflex wwe tackle, eliminate this calculated attempt to injure.

If you strapped 2 feather/foam small but thick pillows to the back of their helmets it would stop half the concussions.  But since that looks (and probably feels) silly, come up with a high-tech alternative that achieves the same effect.  Some sort of high-tech super light and open "crash structure" sticking 6" out of the back of the helmet would probably do it.  Would look dumb, but would instantly fix this problem.

It's a simple issue of reducing the G-force the head absorbs.  You do that by spreading out the deceleration over a longer time period.  My idea would achieve that.  All this "gazoo" protection on the sides/top when half the time it's the turf to the back of the head, and gazoo doesn't help with it at all (didn't help Dru!).

As for D's being more careful: ya, this particular hit was quite excessive.  No need to drive to the turf to achieve the tackle/sack/hit.  But don't worry, Johston is on it... oh wait, no he's only worried about goal post location and getting rid of the 55YL that touched him in the "no feeling" place when he was 4.

Wow 3Q12:40 Oullette -> Casey fumble with command overturning it on review... Riderfans will be apoplectic.  They always accuse command of only stepping in at random when it hurts SSK.

The angles they showed us didn't show anything worth overturning.  I'll assume they have better angles?

This will fuel their tinfoil.  MAX TINFOIL!!

And how does anyone out-strongarm Oullette in a pile?  Dude is more jacked than Jeff Hecht -- literally eats every meal at Popeyes, and I don't mean the chicken joint!

Wind must have dropped off in the 4th quarter as the kicking didn't seem to be affected like it was earlier in the game.

Somewhat surprised to see the ball spot challenge overturned although I think it was a first down. 2 good angles for that one helped.

Boy, CFL/command/commish really want SSK to get to the cup this year.  And it makes sense: everyone not in WPG would hate to see us in another cup.

First, we get a spot change on a challenge and re-measure.  When's the last time we saw that?  I can't even recall the last time command granted a spot change on challenge, especially one that meant 1st down vs TOD.  And strangely, where the chain ended up seems to have changed between the measurements... did they change where the start of the chain was?  (Change where the dude pinched it.)  Very weird overall.

Then they pick up that last RTP flag when it clearly was a legit call -- not for head hit, but because it was late.  Hits like that after the ball is gone have often been called.  We'd call it ticky-tack, but no reason to pick up a called flag.  They basically just overrode the beat down the ref on the field that called it.

SSK fans will moan about the earlier command-stepping-in thing, but the above 2 were even more critical and more out of thin air.

Then we finally agree on something.   ;)  :o

Command setting all sorts of new precedent this season -- WITHOUT public memos to explain it like in '24.

Winning early and resting the big guns, then the bye, that has cost teams in the past and I think should be a real concern in Sask.

The fumble was recovered by Toronto. First time I've ever seen the mark changed on a review and I've been watching since the mid-60's.
