Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: bunker on September 28, 2025, 09:25:38 PMHe's not bashing Strev for his performance yesterday. He's pointing out that when you have a genuine #1 QB at the helm, it makes a huge difference to your offense. None of our other 2 QBs could have done what Zach did, not even close. I would argue Wilson probably could have done much of what Strev did. I love what Strev brings, but he's not a #1 QB.

Strev. played his role very well yesterday, shouldn't expect much more from him.

Quote from: TecnoGenius on September 28, 2025, 08:53:13 PMYa, but didn't Strev get all but 1 of the TDs for those 37 points??  As well as being a massive force on the O in special sets.  I wouldn't use the HAM game as an example to bash Strev!!

This was using Streveler perfectly.

QB#3, short yardage, special sets.

I'd love to have him forever at that position.

But not as starter or #2 coming in for Zach.

Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Whoa!  I didn't notice @PAS... now I'll need to speed up on my rewatch schedule.

No brace would be big news.  Though a bit scary as he took quite a few hits & tackles where I thought "good thing he has that brace!".

I can't say I noticed a huge speed increase on that one big run?  Maybe, a bit though?!  I'll have to go check everything.  Thanks for the heads up.

On his last touchdown he was actually able to beat the defensive lineman  around the edge, which is the first time I can remember him doing it this year. Although it was #47 Owen Hubert, who runs a 5.03 40, so take that with a grain of salt.

Vaval KO TD: why was HAM coverage all flat?  They really had no "waves" and no depth.  Vaval/blockers basically had to bust just 1 wave and it was an easy home run if he beats the K.

HAM should have known better.  A can-bust-it type returner should be respected with multiple large-spaced waves.  You allow him to get more yards in order to stop the home run.

The ref falling on camera guy... it was a mistake by the ref.  His running-backwards thing was not straight on the line, he was losing track of where he was and wandered way off the line and into where the guy was on the turf.

I guess back to running-backwards-staying-on-the-line school.

I'm more shocked he didn't need attention and just kept reffing?  Good for him.  Stout guy, after what looked like a face-first turf plant.

Did Ben really learn Objibwe for this game?  Or just 1 or 2 calls and hope they occur?  Or headphones telling him what to say?

Strange, but I didn't hear any of that @PAS, though CFL refs always have mic issues, and the crow are often louder, AND I'm often not paying attention to the loudspeakers.

You'd think they'd want all the northern visitors to hear that?  However, there are a bunch of languages spoken, so the odds that's lots of theirs is pretty slim.

Ball looked pretty beat up.  I thought they might get the cart for him, but he walked off.

Not sure he'll be good for next game.  Who's next up on NAT ST?  Tough to say with Hallett already in, and the DPs.  Maybe activate another GLOB instead?

He said "hi, how are you" in Ojibwe and then made the call.
My wife is amazing!

Seriously?  LOL.  That explains that.  I thought they were going all bilingual on me like Proulx does in MTL (and sometimes OTT) -- repeat every call in 2 languages.

Along similar lines, too bad we didn't get one of those alternative-language radio broadcasts like they did in BC way back (week 1?).  I'd actually tune in to hear a Bomber game in Objibwe.  can't-understand can't-understand can't-understand TOUCH DOWN!  Would be cool.
