Quote from: TecnoGenius on September 19, 2025, 11:01:34 PMThe fact you guys keep saying this doesn't make it true.  It's not a religious invocation.  It could, in fact, be worse.  Not saying it would, but it could.  We've seen it first-hand with the QB carousel in '12-'14.  Don't make me name the name!

Haha I know you're joking but:

Is

"He's not as bad the worst guy I can think of 15 years ago"

Really a legitimate argument?

No but we re  sick and tired of watching this pathetic offense run with streveler. No other team in the league would stand pat with such a bad qb but not us let's start him again. He starts we lose it's that simple

And MTL didn't stand pat with MBT, they tried 3(?) more QBs after they benched him (cough I mean he was 1GIRd cough cough) and look what that got them.  A bunch of losses.  So now they're back to MBT.

MBT in MTL 3 weeks ago is Strev in WPG right now.  If we put Wilson or The Greek in instead, then we'll know real pain.  Careful what you wish for.

Just dont let him throw 10 yd passes over the middle, feels like every one of those is an adventure

not even close. MBT can actually throw a football. He absolutely shredded the first place Riders in Regina!! Every Qb struggles, with Strev is not only struggle, but he's regressing/getting worse, and our answer is stay with him. Teams third stringers are miles better than strev. Doege tonight played a decent game, he was cut and available, but we stood pat on old strev because he's in MOS good ol boys club. Doege is 10 x the Qb strev is, and its brutally obvious. Time to get serious guys and forget ol boys club alliances, either you can play or you can't and we knew last year, he couldn't, and what did we do, bring him back. We are getting absolutely what we deserve and are going to get crushed tomorrow in Ottawa if strev plays

Dare I say it?  How many 3-season stints did Doege have in the NFL??

:D  :D  :D

I know, I know, that's the meme they use on Riderforum all the time.

In all seriousness, Doege looked scared and timid all game.  Say what you want about Strev, when he goes out there he looks like he owns the place and puts on the Captain face and acts with authority.  Sure, he's mostly throwing INTs with authority, but at least he clearly is trying to be a leader of men.  And that's one thing MOS always lauds him for.

he lasted 3 seasons trying to make it as a short yardage only qb due to his brawn running ability. He was never a real Qb, just a short yardage Qb, big difference. Don't need to read any defenses doing short yardage. Don't need to have proper throwing mechanics to be short yardage Qb, yep that's strev, poor mechanics and couldn't read a defense to save his soul.

Yes, "He can't be worse" is a very legitimate point.

Streveler is not progressing, he is regressing at an alarming rate.

His self questioning in the pocket is getting worse every play.

There is zero reason to believe that he is capable of getting better, when he has shown exactly the opposite.  Against the worst team in the league, he was 3 of 8 (including a handoff).  And when he did run, other than one time, he was destroyed for loss or minor gain.

He is like a deer in the headlights suffering from the yips.  He can't get out of his own head.  And then the self deluding statements about getting better, being better "It's on me. It starts with me, and I've got to keep doing a better job." are just not bearing out.

His pregame interview, and the one with MOS about how much work he puts in, man... if effort was the only factor in results, life would be a much different thing.

When you put in that much work, incorporate what Zach does and all the NFL QB's you've worked with, and all the NFL coaches, and STILL regress week to week, even though you have the full endorsement of the team's management, how do you NOT pull yourself?

I get the Rudy syndrome, and we all love the Rudy story.  But this is the opposite.  Rudy never made the roster, no matter how hard he worked, no matter how hard he tried. He was never given anything, he put in the work without reward.  And when he finally got in, he made the most of it.

Streveler is the anti-Rudy.  He's been given everything, he's been putting in the work, and the results as a starting QB are diminishing.

Again, as QB3 Short Yardage and packages, and even let him play teams (would love to see him tackle), I'd keep him on the roster as long as he wants, $100k/yr no brainer.

But as QB2 and occasional starter, no.  And even moreso with his recent regressions.

O'Shea can keep him around as the SY QB as long as he likes, he's adequate at the job and fans love him, but he needs to specify a different QB as the #2 that plays in relief.

Wilson isn't going to get any playing time. ZC8 is a question mark for the rest of the season. One more hit and he's done. Strev17 won't win us a playoff game. Do we make a move for a true backup QB before the end of the season.

If Wilson is not going to get playing time, cut him.  No use having him here if you don't trust him over CS17.

Chase flashed in PS, next man up.  Is he potentially the future?  Lets find out if he is.

If a CFL experienced guy shakes out of MTL, take a look.

I'd really like to get a long look at Wilson, though.

Should we? Definitely. Will we? With sleepy Kyle and Loyal Osh, I don't think so.

They rarely cut anyone mid-season even if they are on the PR like Woods and Adams because they already know the playbook like the back of their hand, versus bringing in a replacement player off the street with zero knowledge. A lot of invested knowledge is lost when they make those kind of moves and they have to start all over again, easy enough to do during TC in a group, but a coach has to invest precious time getting a late arrival up to speed.
