Nope, I'm aiming for #1 in the West.  Anything can still happen.  We are on the uptrend.

Our O put up huge yards and 2 TDs on deep shots against a team in prevent D just trying to close out the game!  People need to understand what this means.  SSK was in full pass-rush-only mode, no risk of a Brady run at all, and we still wailed on them!  Don't count us out just yet.

Quote from: TecnoGenius on September 01, 2025, 02:39:54 AMSchoen was the target on the final 2PAT, right?  So clearly not "hurt" hurt.

I think it's just Schoen being Schoen, I wouldn't worry about him.

What, a receiver never gets hurt when the ball is thrown to him even if he doesn't touch it? Watch the replay and see if he didn't come down limping.

Quote from: Blue In BC on September 01, 2025, 02:40:24 AMI'm pretty sure he came down limping after the play. Whether it's the same leg or same problem is too early to tell. Offence was much better with him playing though.

Night and day difference with him in the lineup. Wheatie had a decent game, as did Clercius, and Mitchell pitched in. Demski was his usual unbelievable self!!

Ah, I see it.  Just the shot immediately after the pick?  He was hopping like that a bit earlier too.

If it was the same knee blowing ligaments again he would stay down.  I think it works ok, he's just in pain all the time.  Something is messed up in there.  Doesn't necessarily mean he can't play though.

I saw no nasty leg tackle on him or anything this whole game.  No twist-ups with the DBs.  Just fairly mundane tackles.  He should be able to take at least that low level of punishment!

I think it's time to make more roster changes that aren't the result of injuries. We don't know the status of several players that might have been available this week and we may had some new ones this week. Schmekel and Ball were injured. Possibly Schoen again.

If our import DT's are not good enough, then cut them tomorrow. Airlift in some new bodies.

Our front 4 has been an issue for since 2024. Make a move and get past that everybody is a starter crap.

I already mentioned I'd release Logan.  Shake the trees.

Every REC made big/clutch plays.  All of them.  That's what having a more complete corps will do for you.  I'm really proud of all the guys, especially the beleaguered Mitchell.  He might have earned himself more time on the roster.

Hard to tell what the outcome will be for him.

No one ever answered if Schmek returned.  If not, it's astounding our 2 DTs managed to finish out the game in a decent manner!  I guess we could have been putting Ayers in a DT spot, eh?

Normally we'd want to give a new guy 3-5 games to shake off the rust and get enough snaps to see what's there.  But we may not have the time.  However, we definitely need a backup returner, so at worst you PR him.  Not like there's any other returners out there right now.

Shouldn't that Nichols punt return SINGLE have been a SAFETY?

Just imagining us being on the other side of a call like that? I think we'd be losing our minds.

Either way. Good coaching call by Mace. Oshea was lost as to what they were gonna do. I was too, thought they were gonna actual go for it

They ruled his momentum carried him in the end zone so by rule only a single point was awarded, and it was the correct call.

No, there is a special carve-out rule just for this case.  Proulx said it.  It has to do with "his own momentum" taking him into the EZ.  I'll find you the exact rule later.

Think of it this way: it's usually called "conceding a safety" -- implying a choice.  Nichols had no choice, it was unintentional.  The only other time a safety can occur without choice is when then O is backed up in the EZ (at the 1) and get sacked or hold.

I thought it was a draw-offsides ploy (a Dinwiddie special).  But it was a genius move because even a rouge puts us in a bind.  I doubt they thought they'd get a safety!  They probably just wanted to lock us at the 1.

However, that's asking a lot from your O to pretend they are suddenly the cover team guys!

Next time maybe we'll put Vaval back deep just to cover this off.  If Vaval was back deep Mace might have just taken a timecount.

Although that means it's pretty sad that the on-field refs don't know the special rule!!

Quote from: TecnoGenius on September 01, 2025, 12:36:35 AMMaybe 5 Brady runs incl the TD?  A failed Logan's Run (hehehehe).  I think one Demski run?  Oh, and a Strev run.

The 5 for Brady is the real headline.  I think the TD run was his longest, and it wasn't that long.

As for running more: have you seen that SSK DL?  The only way runs are going to work is if they are in pass-rush mode (2nd down) and our OL can trick them into being walled off for a big Brady hole.

Their LBers don't scare me, so any Brady run that beats the DL will get 5-10.

He ran all over Montreal one week ago. When the other team knew we had to run. When we had to use our second string qb as a receiver.  That team has a good D line.

It's hard to understand.

They run when They have no other choice. Otherwise, not part of their gameplan. They don't even try.

Pigskin

We took some bad penalties.
We missed far to many tackles.
We gave another deep ball on a busted coverage.
We gave up 5 sacks.
We had no run game at all.
Also a terrible play call on the 2 point conversion.

And yet, if Castillo hits that missed FG we probably win.
Or, we go for 7 instead of 3 on the early turnover.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Guarantee you they all know it, heck us amateur refs know it. The trouble is in real time, it's tough to be absolutely certain was it momentum or did he purposely run into the end zone. In the end they got it right and that's all that really matters.
