Quote from: Waffler on August 26, 2025, 10:50:06 AMPer the CFL Constitution, the team with the highest waiver priority – in this instance, the Calgary Stampeders – have been awarded BC's forfeited picks as the final selections in the first two rounds – Nos. 8 and 17. [/i]

But in the end, according to your wiki link, CGY actually made picks at:

R1-1, R1-8, R2-9 (17oa)

R2-1 just disappeared into thin air.  This is because BC "bought" CGY's 1st R2 pick then forfeited it instead of their normal R2 pick?

Bottom line though, CGY didn't actually get 4 R1&R2 picks like is implied.  They got 2 in R1 (but one was the last pick of the round it's basically not much as a R2 pick), and one super late in R2 (1,8,17 overall).  Yes, they also did get the "value" of the R2-1 pick traded away, though.

But yes, then they did get #20 (R3-1), which is basically as good as a late R2.

If the premise is that CGY is great this year purely because of the "stolen" extra DPs from BC... I guess it didn't hurt.  But it's not the whole picture.  They would have had Alford (1oa) in any case.

Also, I think Dickenson would have found a way to get VAJ no matter what transpired with the drafts.  And VAJ is the difference between winning and losing over there.

Calgary traded away their second round pick to BC to VAJ.

Then BC forfeited that pick back to Calgary.

Had they not already traded away their 2nd round pick, they would have had 4 picks in the first two rounds.

In a very separate transaction, Edmonton forfeited their 1st round draft pick to pick a player in the supplemental draft in 2024. Which is why there are only 8 picks in round 1.
My wife is amazing!
