I am not including WPG FG attempts, as Hallett doesn't seem to have a role there.  Some "not-ins" he might still be in, as it's VERY easy to confuse #21 and #31 since as soon as Hallett starts running his jersey lifts and you can't tell 2 from 3, and Holm/Hallet are very similar body type.

Conclusion:

Hallett not in for ~ 8 of 24 ST plays, and thus in for 16.  It appears after #12 in 1st H he may have gotten nicked or winded as he was out for a good while.  However, it may also be Mafia trying to get more looks for Kelly/Ball.

He was the key edge kick-blocker on at least 1 FG attempt.

I maintain he's pivotal on ST and will not be benched for any new kid.  He may be more pivotal than Cadwall.  He doesn't get stats because he's often the gunner or the contain.  It's those 2nd level guys that usually get the tackles, by design.

He is a key part of our FG speed kick-blocking unit.

P.S. That's a bucket load of kick plays at 60Y sprints for these guys.  Yikes!

P.P.S. The most important block on the KR TD, other than the masterful 3-4 guy corral of 5-6 TOR guys, was #30 J.Jones.  Cooley wasn't appearing very effective, though he seemed to be in his proper place.  Ball & Kelly both saw reps.  Ball seemed hyped/fast.

Good information, thanks. Not sure it proves or disproves my thought that his role might be diminishing as new players start taking more reps.

Could you tell or have an opinion on which players are taking less reps? Kelly and J.Jones were playing their 1st game and Ball was playing his 2nd game.

Quote from: barbk on August 04, 2025, 11:11:46 PMHow did Mitchell do?  Was he in sync with QB?  Was he being team player?  Was OSHEA watching? etc. etc.

I saw Mitchell get targeted a couple times. Those quick out sideline passes that Collaros loves to throw lately. I did not see us running any reps with 3 Canadian receivers. I think Strev threw an INT when targeting Mitchell one time, but he threw a couple. Didn't seem like his best day.

It was during team periods, so MOS would have been watching. It's practice, so it's hard for me to say he really did anything to stand out, but he certainly looked like he belonged. But he also didn't take every rep. You'd see him and Stanley come off for reps and sit on the side.

Collaros looked like himself. The only interceptions of the day that I noticed were from Strev and Wilson. But Zach also never pushed the ball deep that I saw.
My wife is amazing!

Maybe when we see the daily IR report we might have a better idea of what changes to expect on the roster. I'm not a fan of the 3 Canadian receivers at this point. There may be some upside but now is not the time when our offence has had injury issues at QB and OL.

That may be resolved this week but the 3 Canadian receivers should be on it's last legs if not DOA this week.

from DT:

Day 2 of Bombers practice:

DT Cam Lawson remains out. OL Micah Vanterpool is out today after working yesterday.
DB Redha Kramdi is back after sitting out yesterday.

Even with Vanterpool out there's still one too many NI O-linemen available, unless Randolph plays in Wallace's LG spot.

It will be interesting to see how the short week between Sat - Thursday games impacts the roster decisions.

On the starting 3 Canadians WRs, we don't have the talent to do that. Corcoran is not a starting receiver.

In years past, 5th receiver was often a NAT that wasn't a starting receiver... not saying that is or should be the case, but historically...

You're confusing me with your use of NI. To me that means Non Imports ( Canadians ) when I think you are talking about Imports?

Not sure what the means leading up to this weeks game. I don't really want to see Kornelson back on the AR. It might mean that we need Woods back on the AR as our best choice of options with the last import on the roster ( with Cooley coming out ). That still leaves us options on whether to add a 3 import OL, a receiver or Logan by taking out either Ayers or J. Jones.

If was up to me I'm taking out Ayers if we want one of those options. I like Ayers but J. Jones can replace his role on ST's and on defence. J. Jones is more likely to push to start if we have an injury IMO.

Ayers is a good player but the role of a DI and the ranking of where he might fit in is perilous. I just think J. Jones has more short and long term benefit. I mean we don't even rank him on the depth chart as a LB. Very odd.  If that's where they really see him then person just leaped past him in that role.

Interesting stat. JC81 is 8/8 for 52 yards, seems to be automatic on the 7 yard crossing pattern. Solid backup Canadian receiver, with  good hands.

TJ33 leads the D with 41 DTs. 19 ahead of Kramdi who has 22.
Don't go through life looking in the rearview mirror.

Yes sorry I meant Imports.

No problem. I thought there was a chance of Vanterpool might start at LG but now he's not practising. I suppose Randolph is a choice to do that but I don't think we see that happen.

So now I lean more to having an import receiver which I'd lump in Logan with the 2 import receivers added to the roster. As I suggested Logan can do punt and K/O returns, fill some role at receiver or RB. He's versatile and might be finally ready.

Maybe someone at practice can fill us in on what configurations we're having on the OL. What's the deal with Vanterpool?

Not sure how the Bombers get away with not having to release an injury report for yesterday.

They practice 3 days this week so it was their day 1. They may think it's not required as it was 5 days before the game.

Calgary didn't provide an injury report either but for them it was an extra day of practice as they are practicing on Thursday while the Bombers have the day off.

To be fair it makes most sense with Streveler starting. Might as well load up elsewhere because the receivers are going to be largely blocking which is why Corcoran started. They basically said as much.
