Crowd letting us down

Is it just me, or is the noise level @PAS not as high this year?  So many slackers in the stands, can't even make a peep on some critical 3rd down gamble or similar?

As always, I'm the loudest in my section.  So many around me (90%?) not doing anything.

I don't think teams fear coming into our stadium anymore, and not just because we currently suck.  I think we're letting our team down with our apathy.

Everyone needs to amp up those around them: shame them for being librarians.  I want more noise next game, even if we still suck.  We can't just save the real noise for the Banjo Bowl!

It is always the 10% that make most of the noise. The others only get into it after a big play, something there wasn't much of last time.
Lets get some sacks, turnovers, and TDs. You'll see the crowd get loud.

The crowd is there. The team is not. There has to be some symbiosis for it to work at or near peak levels. If the team doesn't respond to the noise, it's going to have an impact on the level of enthusiasm. It's just human nature. I do think our crowd did very well last game though, considering how it went.

However..... I would really, really like to see the crowd noise on defence start as soon as the previous play is over. We still wait too long to get it started. I'm usually the only one in my section ringing my bell for about 5 seconds before others finally start joining in. By the time peak level has been reached, the offence is already at the line. Teams have for the most part figured how to get around noise at the line. Don't get me wrong, line noise itself is still fairly effective, but it's old school. It's noise in the huddle that counts now. There is some noise at the huddle, but not enough. You have to start it sooner. It will make a big difference. That's my beef.

If they lay another egg this weekend I fear the response they're going to get from the fans.  Wpg. football fans have always been the quickest to turn on their team, you rarely hearing booing in any other stadium were apathy reigns.

Crowd has been fine imo.  I love that we are not afraid to show support or disapproval.  I would say crowd noise is average, the roar for Stegall was legendary.  As we build momentum, so will the crowd.

Would be nice if we kept stats on crowd noise.  I have some ear issues and have been wearing ear plugs when we are on D.  The crowd has certainly been better in the past.

I'll try to find my noise meter for next game!

I don't blame them.  The team needs to know that we're unhappy with a crappy effort at home.

Winnipeg and Toronto sports fans turn on there teams quickly.

Turn yes but we support our clubs regardless, not a good comparison imo

Ouch!! But a little true!

Winnipeg football fans are very passionate and committed to their football team. They cheer loudly when they make a good play, and boo when they need a kick in the pants, doesn't mean we turn on them, we're still in the stands, whereas Toronto is lucky to get 10k to its games.

The problem from a fans perspective, is you need something to cheer for and we've been too busy cursing horrible mistakes , interceptions, blow coverages etc. Give us something to cheer for and you'll hear it!!

This happens in every sports city. Fans don't like watching their teams lose.

Team has to give the crowd something to cheer for.

I don't know what you're talking about it has been quite loud at the sellout crowd games. Lol

This topic borders on insanity at this point.

I do not believe that any poster or legitimate topic should be roasted for simply stating their opinion.  The thread is welcome and people can chime in on their thoughts.  Don't like it, simply ignore and move on.

They've all been sellout games... and there were a few loud points like vs EDM when it was close for a little while, vs BC too.  I was proud of the fans then.

To be clear, I'm really only talking about D noise, which is our "job" as fans.  Of course the crowd cheers when we get TDs, etc.  But that doesn't help us win like D noise does.

But the overall level of noise, averaged over the whole game, seems less than previous years.  And the engagement in my section alone (admittedly a slightly older STH section -- but not the geriatric golf-clapper section) is remarkably weak.

Your section may be more consistent with good noise, Goldie.  And good for them.

During games when I have to go to the concourse mid-plays (darn kids!) I always try to stop and stand and listen at certain points where I know it seems louder, and in the last game the noise level was weak (and no, not in the 4th when everyone left).
