Ya, you'd think we'd learn something from T.Harris here.  He's Mr Pumpfake and voila, wide open RECs after the D bites on the fake.

Everyone is cheating up on us, going for the INT feast.  Doesn't matter if it's Strev or Zach.  We need to start making them pay by using smart misdirection and layered schemes.

Zach always does visible steamboats on deep routes, why not turn each steamboat into a pumpfake?  Why not look DBs and FSs off.  Why not do something, anything, with our brains and the chess match?  Our talent and execution alone are not going to beat anyone.

Quote from: Waffler on July 21, 2025, 07:03:04 PMWe need to rush more than 3. Arbuckle not great when he's pressured.  Test him with a blitz or two.

We haven't been rushing 3 that much this season.  Maybe on some 2nd & very longs.  We're also not blitzing a whole lot.  We're really going straight 4 man rush most downs.  I like the idea (it's what CGY does and kills everyone), but we don't seem to have the horses to make an impact.

What I'd like to see is a heck of a lot more stunts, and less of the "delayed spy blitz" thing that is useless against a fast slinger like VAJ.

Streveller pick six was a perfect example of DBs playing full press and jumping the short throw, heck the DB broke on the ball before our receiver did!! Gotta make them pay for this a burn them with pump fakes/out and up routes

Quote from: The Zipp on July 21, 2025, 03:04:31 PMGoing to be a tough game - is Kelly back?  He will be a bit rusty for sure if he is.
...
I seem to recall the games were all kinda ugly - so likely going to be the same

Here's the thing.  TOR is playing extremely physical, violent and nasty, at least in the first half, while Kelly is out.  They are being berated constantly by Dinwiddie, who doesn't permit slacking.  Beating the crap out of the opponent is the only way TOR can win until their star QB returns.  They know this.

This is the worst case scenario as most of our team is undersized compared to TOR counterparts, and we can't be as violent and mean as them.  Plus, they don't fear the wrath of their HC like TOR does.

If Kelly is in then they'll cream us just by putting up 45 pts.  But on the bright side, I would expect their D to be a lot less physical.

If Kelly is out, I can see a lot of demoralization and injury on our side.

If we lose again to an Arbuckle-led Argos, who can't win to save their life this season, and who have lost like 10 superstar players in FA, then I expect the morale situation in WFC to get very dire indeed.

Looks like DB Enock Makonzo is practicing for the first time since camp. He's on 6-game with an elbow injury. That's great to see.

DT Jamal Woods also dressed. He's done 4 weeks on 6-game.

@jfreysam
RET Trey Vaval is also practising.
He left in the second half of last week's game.

@FarhanLalijiTSN
Chad Kelly is practicing today for #Argos. But Nick Arbuckle continues to get the first team reps.

I don't show Woods playing in week 1 and thought he was in week 5 of his 6 game IR stint. He may have been on the 1 game IR in week but IIRC he could be moved to 6 game IR retroactively after just 1 week to start the season???

In theory he's only eligible to practice in week 5 of a 6 game IR time.

Derek Taylor is stating Collaros will play.

Woods was on the 1-game IL for game 1. He was moved to the 6-game IL for game 2.

Good. I expected he'd be ok to play but did think he'd not practice on day 1.

Yes but I was adding further comments about timing of move from 1 game to 6 game IR to start the season. That and the fact of when a player can start practising which I believe is week 5 not week 4.

EDIT:

When a Player is placed on the Six Game Injury List he is ineligible to practice with the Club provided however, the week following the fifth game leading up to the seventh game, the Player may participate in full practices before the Club determines whether he is being extended for a further six games on the Six Game Injury List or if he is being transferred to the one game injured list, active roster, reserve roster, or is being released.

Vaval DNP today, opportunity to let Case handle the returns and bring on a different NI, Ayers is not playing enough snaps at this point to warrant a roster spot. maybe time to bring on Mitchell, Allen, J. Jones, Person or Bailey to see if any of them can add a spark.

Not sure what you meant about bringing on a different NI. Vaval and Case are both imports.

Person played in the last game.

Bailey could be added by dropping a Canadian from the AR. I'd suggest Novak although he's doing well on ST's.

Yes, I'd sub J. Jones for Ayers.

Allen in would meant Parker to CB and possibly needing to remove Bridges.

We have some options partially caused by injuries and some by performance. Will O'Shea make those changes?

The rules changed a couple years ago for when 6 gamers are allowed to practice. It went from being on the 6 game for 5 games to 4 games.
