Not sure what the play is at #8 but the Jets better not squander this one.

You just know Chevy is dangling it for a 2C.

Maybe not the worst idea...?

For those who think this core can make a Stanley Cup run, sure.

I think we've seen the best they have to offer and it's been well short. The only time we had a run is when we were stocked with young guys in their entry deals, buoyed by a high draft pick.

The only chance we have at success is draft and develop and we've failed at that in this cycle.

The core isn't the issue, IMO. I think it's the lack of sufficiently talented depth that continues to hinder the team. It shouldn't be this difficult to solidify the top 6, particularly down the middle.

And quite miserably I'd add. I think you were onto something when you brought up Marcel Comeau's departure as it relates to the poor draft history since.

Why Jets should explore all options with No. 8 pick

So, Toews becomes a coach, and we see Perfetti finally realize his potential as a 2C?

There are so many Moose ready to make the next step, and keeping that prospect pool full is important.

Trading #8 for a guy that is proven 2C but was originally a late first rounder or worse seems like trading down.  I know, a #8 is not guaranteed to be a top liner or a top d pairing player, but it should be a fairly solid chance they will.

It all comes down to CH37.  If they get him back on board, then full steam ahead for today.  If he's not, its full rebuild time.

I think it's be fair to say if Perfetti were the answer at 2C, we'd have some idea by now. He took somewhat of a step back this past season, so I'm even less convinced than before.

Hellebuyck's under contract for another five years. What do you mean by get him back on board?

Seriously?

Hellebuyck's exit interview was less than enthusiastic about the direction the team is heading.  Just because he's under contract doesn't mean he's on board.

One of the things I would have liked to see in the last 20 or so games of the season would have been Perfetti tried out at 2C.

Love the feigned incredulity. ;D

You made similar comments about Scheifele four years ago, insulting him, doubting him, and even going so far as to claim he'd never wear the Jets crest ever again. We all know how that worked out, though.

Why do you struggle to explain your position? It's a pretty serious claim to make that Hellebuyck's not on board, especially when it's based on nothing more than comments made in an exit interview after a frustrating season.

The topic of trading Hellebuyck has been broached here, and on social media.  Based on his exit interview.

Yes, they were comments from a proud player coming off a frustrating season.  But they weren't without substance.

My comments about MS55 were based on his play, the team's play under him.  And I have repeatedly stated that he turned things around, and I'm happy he's still here.

Who here brought up trading him? Oh, yeah... It was you - and only you. Just the other day.

What you posted above fails to address your claim regarding Hellebuyck being on board or not. You mention substance regarding his comments in the exit interview while providing none whatsoever regarding your comments.

It's not much to ask for you to expand on your views with substance considering the stance you've taken here regarding the Jets' franchise goalie.
