This is the problem.

We're still riding our first wave of stars (who have been fantastic), but then there is an absolute dearth of success through the draft. We are unable to sign or even trade for big FAs, so we supplement with the old guys and it's not good enough.

Per Murat Ates of The Atlantic, Bettman and Chipman have had another discussion regarding consolidation of the Jets 1.0 and 2.0 records. It sounds like the latter is pushing for some sort of resolution sooner than later.

Late 1st round picks always take longer to develop if at all. This is why some teams like Vegas and Florida trade off those picks near the trade deadline for a player that has a few years of NHL experience.

Fetts so far is have a terrible season. 15 games, 5 points mostly on the PP. -9. He's got time to turn it around, but not a good look for him going into RFA this summer. Could he be a trade piece.
