Quote from: dd on Today at 01:38:09 AMHorsecollar tackle has to cause a change in direction or else it isn't a horsecollar tackle.

Completely untrue.  We went over this last season.  Check the rule.  No mention whatsoever about direction or force or anything.

There was no change in direction tonight, so do you say that's not HC and command got it wrong after their long deliberation?

What you're saying is they can HC Eli all night long in every obvious way and they'll never flag it because they weigh 150lb and Eli weighs nearly 300?

Quote from: Jesse on Today at 01:38:37 AMLions have no one to blame but themselves. Shooting themselves in the foot at every opportunity.

Losing 1-2 key starters every quarter to injury didn't help.  Them losing Betts possibly with a fractured arm deflated them as much as Willie getting maimed would us.

At least they didn't do it at home.  And at least they didn't do it on Snoop Dogg night.

It's Buck's Bar & Lounge still open?  ;)  Do they serve crow?  Or duck?

Quote from: dd on Today at 02:03:20 AMThat's what I said, they make it so easy to hate them!!!
The weird thing is, they seem to want it that way. I'm so glad the Bombers are such a class organisation.

Quote from: dd on Today at 01:53:06 AMand I am the first one to call out defensive players for head hunting, but this wasn't head hunting at all.

Again, I'm saying CFL has flagged many a DB/FS for hellacious hits that had nothing to do with the head.  Remember the one where our DB or FS whacked Begelton in the hip/legs and he did a 360 in the air and was writhing on the ground?  Ya, 15Y UR for us.

These hits today, nothing.  And hey, I was all for these hits when Loffler did them but I learned we can't do it anymore.  My beef is the inconsistency.  They seem to be letting the hard hits go again this season, which I find a bit strange.

Hey look, it's an Oilers game!

That Begelton hit was 100% a UR, it's clearly stated in bold lettering in the CFL rulebook, yet goes uncalled. An egregious whiff by the refs, and ya, they have been consistently inconsistent this year

From the few cam shots we got of the crowd, it looks like SSK is having a heck of a time filling the upper bowl.  Mega empty.  Lower bowl looks ok in "good" seats.  I never did see Pil country.

Compare that to all the crowd shots of every PAS game!  They are proud to show off WPG's attendance!

Hey, what happened to that other blonde girl they used to have that would go into the stands at every stadium, usually on Thurs?  Miss that lady.  Gave you a better feel for stadiums.  Might have convinced some younger people to get off the TV and out to a game.

SSK beat BC down even worse than we did, and with Maier (gasp!).  Does this mean that, gasp, SSK is better than us?

SSK has a bye next week, so we can, at best, tie them in the standings.

SSK run game is infinitely better than ours right now.  Brady rapidly falling down the leaderboard.  Their OL is getting bigger holes.  SSK only won tonight because of D and run game.  Don't forget Oullette earns half of what Brady does...

BC knew SSK was going to do nothing but run because Maier stinks (and did, mostly)... yet they still couldn't stop Thor.  Yet they completely shut down our run game until garbage time vs WPG last week.  Hmmm.

As for quality of opponent, if BC truly sucks, then this is a wash.  We've both had EDM once, and BC once (us an extra BC), but SSK did get easy-out TOR and HAM.  We're going to get potential playoff team CGY next week, off the bye, at home for the inaugural Stampede Bowl, where you know they'll put up a big effort to live up to the hype.

Still early, but if SSK can keep up this run game, they will be hard to stop.  And if we can't get our run game going, we'll have a hard time winning against good teams.

Wither Brady?

Sask beat down was greatly helped by a horribly played game by Masoli, who routinely was inaccurate with his throws, threw pick six and was downright brutal. He wasn't great against us but he was extra bad tonight and cost the Lions a chance to be at least competitive in this game.

But was Masoli really more brutal or was SSK D better than ours at the takeaways and stops?  Tricky question.  BC O was mostly unchanged from last week.  Well, there was one change at OT.  And BC's OL was suspect all night.

BC was poised to take the lead going into the half. Sure, Masoli dropped an absolute dime into McInnis's arms which was erased by McInnis's offside penalty but then the pick-6 when there was no need to be taking chances with the ball. Butler was having a great game and BC should have been utilising his skills there, especially with great field position and a guaranteed FG looming. If BC is smart there they've got the Riders down at the half and all the momentum. I suspect that's on Buck and where have we seen that before like when Buck inexplicably took the ball out of the hands of the CFL's best running back in the Grey Cup?

Masoli can't run anymore. You saw his attempt to chase the pick at the end of Q2. That WAS a big part of his game. Even worse is that they want him to throw on the run. Recipe for disaster. He needs to find a way to play within his limitations now.

Did Betts actually fracture his arm? I didn't watch the entire game although I did see him get injured. He was on the sideline with a big ice pack and wrapping on his left elbow. It could be serious and long term IR?
One game at a time.
