Tre Ford, scrambler.

Jordan Younger is a genius.  We are so lucky to have him, so lucky that Hall stepped aside so we could keep him.

Our D held Tre Ford to 1 run for 6 yards, and 3 sacks.  His 18/29 did not reflect his targeting, but rather how many balls he threw away to avoid even more sacks.

This was a clinic given by the Bombers D on how to handle Ford.  Ford deserves to be their starter, he has weapons, but they just met a D that could dial it up, kept their spies tight and got some great push on an oline missing its heart.

Well done JY and the whole Bomber D
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Full credit to the defense for playing a disciplined game and not giving him a lot of opportunities with his legs.

In fairness though, Tre Ford actually tried to play like a football quarterback this week which might be a good sign for Edmonton fans although it might just be proof that when he does so he's just a quite below average QB.

On the Edmonton fumble, he missed a wide open receiver running down the middle of the field. He should have thrown two picks and one was very much his fault.  Ya, the drop in the end zone isn't on him but that was really the only drive he passed them down the field too. He's a really inaccurate passer which is probably not correctable at this point. He still has a really hard time reading defenses.

He absolutely doesn't deserve to be a starter unless the job in Edmonton is defined by losing football games. The fact that he's still playing and Fajardo comes in for short yardage is hilarious. Fajardo is going to be the starter by Labour Day.

Last night was the first time I've seen him play this year. If I compare that game to what I saw last year? Way better. He'll improve, but the jury is still out on him as a bonafide starter in this league. However, he does need way more help from his team mates and coaches. Not much of a running game. Too many untimely, dumb penalties. Bad play calling. And where was Gittens?

Edmonton has hit rock bottom some time ago anyway, so I think they have a few more games to get things turned upward. I would stick with him until I see a plateau or regression.

Ford is hot and cold, played a few similar games last season were he won by a nose or lost by a hair. The Elks need a better team effort to get better results, start by cutting down on mistakes.  There's no reason that Defence can't improve drastically by the end of the season, many of the personnel are in place.  Like the Bombers in 2017-18 a strong Defensive performance should be their method of carrying Ford to victory.

Elks are not 0-3 with Faj as their starter...

Tony Jones was all over the place - and fast.

TBURGESS

Edm who needed a good start got BC, Mtl, Wpg to start the season. Expecting Tre Ford to do well against those 3 teams is not just a big ask... it's a huuuge ask.

Ford kept them in the game until the 4th quarter. If his receiver could catch the ball in the end zone that went through his hands and hit him in the helmet, they would have been ahead.

It looks like the coaching staff has decided to try and make Ford a pocket passer. What they need to do is to go pocket some of the time and RPO most of the time to take advantage of Ford's running ability until he learns to read defences.

When you're Edmonton, every game is a "tough ask". The home against Ottawa is maybe a toss up and then they've got BC again and Saskatchewan. Will they win more than 1 of those? Doubt it.

I am super impressed with him. He is blossoming in to a CFL star.

Ford can still improve his accuracy and has a chance to get better at reading defences. He has the tools, just need to be sharpened.

Which is funny, because just one week ago there were a many posters who were saying Tony Jones was ineffective and isn't the answer at MLB!
Never go full Rider!

They have to prove that first. CoFaj isn't a guy who can will a bad team to victory either.

However, he can actually play quarterback and going from no quarterback to a quarterback can only be good for the Elks.

Pete

well they said that about MBT last year and that certainly didnt work out
