I like Terry Wilson but if they don't give him serious game reps to develop they could find themselves in the same position in the playoffs.

It'd be nice to see an OC come in with a different approach, rather than banking on blind luck hoping Zach never gets hurt.

You're right. No idea if either will work out. Odds are they will not. That's not me doubting either of them, it's just the reality of the odds of a QB prospect becoming a starter.

I'm glad we have Dolegala though. And it's not like Maier or Fajardo were terribly expensive. We could have traded for either and chose not to. To me, that says something about the guys we have and the Bombers opinions of them.

Quote from: dd on December 23, 2024, 09:08:39 PMNot at all. Aside from Collaros, Maier is far better than anything we have on our roster. I am hoping we have a plan for who our #2 is going to be as last year was a total bust and it cost us big time.

Hard to make sense of this narrative. Much like Frank Costanza's hilarious holiday, it's pretty out there to think Maier coming in for an injured Collaros would've helped the Bombers win GC111.

Lost in all this backup QB chatter is the fact that Streveler was lost to a nasty injury from a dirtbag whose only accomplishment in pro football is taking out QBs with his embarrassingly questionable play.

But I digress. Maier's a known commodity and I'm glad the Bombers didn't try and trade for him.

I see it as misfortune. Riders sign Harris and they don't want to pay Dolegala. He was a free agent for a grand total of one day. BC wanted him to the tune of $172,800.  That's pretty good for an inexperienced 2nd string. He became expendable only when Rourke broke the budget else he is probably still there.

He throws a really nice ball, probably why he got looks from 4 NFL teams, Packers and Patriots twice each. There could be potential there but I leave that to the coaches to decide.

I can understand the thinking though. We didn't need an allstar. Just a HEALTHY vet that can outplay Arbuckle by one score wins us the game.

Maier is not that guy, IMO.  And this is exacerbated by how poorly the rest of the offense performed in that game from the first snap.

I don't think any QB would have made a difference.  We were struggling to move the ball all game even with our #1 in before he sliced his finger

Dolegala might throw a decent ball but he isn't at all mobile, not sure a pocket passer has played in Wpg. since Drew Willy.

The Bombers were so ill prepared for this game it was laughable. First play, our O lineman jumps offside. Perfect. Loose ball interference on a fumble that's coming our way, UNLESS we commit a foul, which we did. A number of confused substitutions on defense, one which lead to our player losing his cool and costing us 15 yards. We were lost out there, playing with our heads up our butts. Toronto, was laser focused, made few mistakes and made us look foolish.
