Bombers roster for Thursday vs Elks: no changes, but Nic Demski is a game-time decision. He was injured late in last week's game in BC.

Brady Oliveria
and Mike Benson miss a 2nd game with injury.

My guess would be that REC Gavin Cobb comes on if Demski can't go.

Nic Demski game-time decision for Winnipeg Blue Bombers against Elks
By 3Down Staff -June 25, 2025

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have listed Canadian receiver Nic Demski as a game-time decision when they host the Edmonton Elks on Thursday night.

The 31-year-old native of Winnipeg, Man. has caught five passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns through two games this season, both of which resulted in wins over the B.C. Lions. He did not practice this week due to an ankle injury.

The four-time All-West Division selection has surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in both of the last two seasons. Over 138 career regular-season games, Demski has caught 432 passes for 5,338 yards, rushed for 828 yards, and scored 42 touchdowns.

The Blue Bombers haven't made any changes to their depth chart from last week's win in Vancouver, which saw Zach Collaros throw for 179 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in his season debut.

Brady Oliveira, who will remain out this week, will be replaced again by rookies Matthew Peterson and Quinton Cooley, who combined for 18 carries for 85 yards last week.

Through two games, Winnipeg ranks third in points per game, sixth in net offence per game, first in points allowed per game, and sixth in net offence allowed per game.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0) will host the Edmonton Elks (0-2) at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 26 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. A victory would give the Blue Bombers their first 3-0 start since 2022.

American rookie Mark Evans II to start for Edmonton Elks following OL injury shuffle
By 3Down Staff -June 25, 2025

The Edmonton Elks will field a new combination up front for their matchup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.

After centre David Beard was placed on the six-game injured list earlier this week with a calf injury, veteran Canadian Mark Korte will shift over to occupy the role he's held in Edmonton for the past several seasons. That leaves a hole at left guard that will be filled by rookie American Mark Evans II.

The 26-year-old product of Arkansas-Pine Bluff is making his second start of the season after stepping in at right tackle for Brett Boyko in the opener. Canadian rookie Jaxon Morkin will also dress as the seventh offensive lineman to preserve the ratio.

Defensively, the Elks are undergoing a similar shuffle in the secondary. Following the release of offseason signee Emmanuel Rugamba, Kordell Jackson will move to boundary halfback after making consecutive starts at strong-side linebacker. Rookie Chelen Garnes will slide into that spot after making three defensive tackles in a backup role last week, while Kenneth Logan Jr. comes off the practice roster to provide insurance.

The Edmonton Elks (0-2) will visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0) at Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday, June 26 with kickoff slated for 8:30 p.m. EDT. The current weather forecast calls for mainly sunny conditions with a temperature of 25 degrees and a 10 percent chance of showers.

The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and can be streamed on CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 880 CHED in Edmonton or 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.

Game Recap  EDM 23 WPG 36
June 27, 2025   Ed Tait

LET ZACH COOK:
This was one for the Collaros time capsule, as the veteran Blue Bombers quarterback was at his vintage best. The 36-year-old pivot finished the night 25-of-30 for 334 yards with three touchdowns — two to Nic Demski, the other to Keric Wheatfall — while also running for a critical score in the fourth quarter.

Collaros's 334-yard effort allowed him to move past Ken Ploen (16,470) into fourth spot on the franchise's all-time passing yardage list at 16,511, now behind only Dieter Brock (29,623), Khari Jones (20,175) and Kevin Glenn (18,116).

The number that matters most to him? The Blue Bombers are now 59-18 in games he has started since his arrival in 2019.

GTD – GO TIME DEMSKI:

Nic Demski had been listed as a 'GTD' — game time decision — on the Blue Bombers depth chart after suffering an ankle injury last weekend in the win over B.C. We suggested on X that the GTD should stand for 'Go-Time Demski' after the veteran receiver served up a sensational effort, especially in the first half. His first catch was an eight grab from Collaros for Winnipeg's first score and his second was an absolute thing of beauty as he went up and snatched a pass for a 61-yard score.

NOTABLE:
The win was Winnipeg's 13th straight against Edmonton, a franchise record for consecutive wins against any team.

Of note: during this 13-game run the margin of victory has been less than 10 points only three times.

Upon Further Review  Wpg 36 Edm 23
June 27, 2025   Ed Tait

Who had this on their Blue Bombers-Elks statistical bingo card/betting prop? Collaros finished the game with the one carry for 13 yards and actually outrushed his counterpart Tre Ford, who ran only once for six yards.

Ford did complete 18 of 29 passes for 252 yards and a TD — a 66-yard strike to Kaion Julien-Grant courtesy a bust in Winnipeg's defence — and also had a sure score dropped by Julien-Grant near the end of the first half.

But by and large Winnipeg's defence managed to corral the ad-libbing skilset of the Elks starting pivot.

The Blue Bombers had three sacks — one each from Wilson and Jones and the third from Jefferson, his first of the season and 75th in his hall of fame career. Asked about hitting the No. 75 in career sacks, Jefferson added:

"On the way to 100."

Need to Know  Week 5
June 29, 2025   Ed Tait

Just for the record, the Blue Bombers haven't confirmed that Oliveira has been green-lighted to return. Head coach Mike O'Shea said that decision won't be made until after Tuesday's practice. He also added that next week's bye will not be a factor in determining when Oliveira is good to go.

"We've always worked with that — if they're good to go, they're good to go," he said. "I can't remember a time where we've said, 'Ah, the bye week's coming up, why not another week?' Al and his medical staff are so good at what they do, if they're cleared to play, they're cleared to play."

FYI: WR Nic Demski, who had two TDs last week and now has four on the season, was suited up on Sunday but limited... P Jamieson Sheahan was in attendance, but did not handle any punting chores. Sergio Castillo and defensive tackle Devin Adams — who punted in college — took turns punting... DB Ethan Ball, who injured his hand during training camp, was back practising for the first time on Sunday.

Wheatfall: "Whenever that ball is in the air I've got to execute. It's my ball or nobody's ball."
June 30, 2025  Ed Tait

OUCH UPDATE: Positive news from Blue Bombers practice on Monday as both RB Brady Oliveira and receiver Nic Demski were full participants. Jake Thomas was there at the start of the session but did not participate. Micah Vanterpool continues to get the bulk of the work at left guard.

BIGGIE WATCH: Adam Bighill has been practising with his new club, the Calgary Stampeders, but it's still questionable as to whether he would suit up for this Thursday's meeting with his old club in southern Alberta.

"I wouldn't bring Adam in unless I felt like he's going to be the leader of the group. The problem is, he's not quite healthy," said Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson. "We've got to make sure to get him back and actually do some on-field practice, and make sure that he's feeling comfortable with things. When he's comfortable and ready, obviously, I think he'll be a big help for us.

48-Hour Primer  Week 5: WPG at CAL
July 1, 2025   Ed Tait

FYI: The latest Blue Bombers injury report — coming following a closed practice — now lists RB Brady Oliveira's game status as 'questionable.' Ditto for DT Jake Thomas, who has not practised the last two days due to illness. The depth chart, FYI, will come out sometime on Wednesday in advance of Thursday's game in Calgary.

O'Shea on the status of Oliveira: "I like to give him some time after practice and the next morning. I know we'll have to figure that out sooner rather than later but it's about giving him as much time as we can give him."

Winnipeg Blue Bombers release Canadian DB Josh Hagerty
By 3Down Staff -July 2, 2025

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released Canadian defensive back Josh Hagerty.

The six-foot-three, 200-pound defender signed with the Blue Bombers as a free agent in February. He spent the first week of the regular season on the one-game injured list before being demoted to the practice roster.

The 26-year-old played 15 regular-season games with the Edmonton Elks in 2024, recording 10 special teams tackles.

The native of Regina, Sask. was originally a sixth-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. He spent three years with the team and made 23 defensive tackles, 16 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble. He won a Grey Cup in 2022.

Hagerty played collegiately at the University of Saskatchewan where he made 72 tackles, four interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery over 26 games. He helped the Huskies win the Hardy Cup in 2018.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-0) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (2-1) at McMahon Stadium on Thursday, July 3 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The weather forecast calls for a high of 28 degrees, clear skies, and minimal wind.

Official: Brady Oliveira to return for Winnipeg Blue Bombers against Stampeders
By John Hodge -July 2, 2025

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will have Brady Oliveira back in the lineup when they visit the Calgary Stampeders on Thursday, as per the team's official depth chart.

The CFL's reigning Most Outstanding Player rushed twice for 49 yards in Winnipeg's season-opening win over the B.C. Lions but left the game in the first quarter due to a shoulder injury. Oliveira spent the last two games on the injured list as rookie running back Matthew Peterson started in his place.

Oliveira rushed for 1,353 yards, caught 57 passes for 476 yards, and scored four total touchdowns in 2024 to be voted the CFL's top player. The 27-year-old native of Winnipeg, Man. has rushed for 4,366 yards, caught 127 passes for 1,284 yards, and scored 24 total touchdowns over 69 career regular-season games since being selected in the second round of the 2019 CFL Draft out of the University of North Dakota.

Peterson, a rookie out of the University of Alberta, will remain on the roster as Oliveira's backup. The 24-year-old native of Brooks, Alta. has rushed 46 times for 237 yards and one touchdown this season and caught five passes for 19 yards.

Quinton Cooley, an American rookie out of Liberty University, has been moved to the practice roster. He dressed for two games while Oliveira was out, rushing 11 times for 62 yards and catching two passes for five yards.

The Blue Bombers have made one other change to their starting lineup, giving Micah Vanterpool the start at left guard. Gabe Wallace, a second-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft out of the University at Buffalo, started the last two games at left guard. He will dress on Thursday in a depth role. Vanterpool started the season-opener against B.C. but was a healthy scratch the past two weeks in order to get Cooley on the roster.

Winnipeg has also moved Global linebacker Fabian Weitz to the practice roster. The 27-year-old native of Germany has played nine regular-season CFL games, recording two special teams tackles.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and on CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and 770 CHQR in Calgary.

Freshly-signed LB Kyle Wilson to make Calgary Stampeders debut against Winnipeg
By 3Down Staff -July 2, 2025

Veteran linebacker Kyle Wilson will be in the lineup for the Calgary Stampeders when they take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday night.

The six-foot, 231-pound native of Wichita, Kan. started the first two games of the regular season for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at middle linebacker, recording 11 defensive tackles. He was released last week after the team gave the starting spot to Canadian rookie Devin Veresuk out of the University of Windsor.

Wilson had been a member of the Tiger-Cats since 2020. Over 51 career CFL regular-season games, he has recorded 156 defensive tackles, 10 special teams tackles, two sacks, one interception, and three forced fumbles.

The 29-year-old will dress as Calgary's second-string middle linebacker behind Micah Teitz, who has recorded 14 defensive tackles and four special teams tackles over three games this season. Adam Bighill, who recently joined the team's practice roster, will not dress this week as he continues his recovery from a torn ACL.

The Stampeders have moved Canadian running back Jeshrun Antwi to the one-game injured list and promoted Ludovick Choquette to the active roster in his place. The 23-year-old native of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft out of Long Island University.

Calgary has also moved American defensive linemen Josiah Coatney and Cedric Wilcots II to the one-game injured. Charles Wiley, who recorded 12 defensive tackles and two sacks over 10 games last season, has been moved to the active roster in their place.

The Calgary Stampeders (2-1) will host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-0) at McMahon Stadium on Thursday, July 3 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The weather forecast calls for a high of 28 degrees, clear skies, and minimal wind.

CFL Negotiation Lists fully available to public
July 2, 2025

TORONTO — The nine teams of the Canadian Football League (CFL) have made their Negotiation Lists fully public for the first time, it was announced on Wednesday.

Teams were previously required to disclose only ten players on each of their lists, on two occasions during the season – in September and December. The lists will be updated every 24 hours.

In accordance with CFL by-laws, each team maintains a Negotiation List of up to 45 players who are currently playing in other leagues, in college or unsigned. Teams hold exclusive negotiating rights with players on their lists, and they can be added, traded or removed at any time.

The Negotiation List process was developed in the early 1950s; it served as a key component of the 1958 merger of the founding leagues that are now known as the CFL's East and West Divisions.

"We are focused on giving fans and media more opportunities to connect with our product in entertaining and meaningful ways," said CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston. "By making the full Negotiation Lists public, fans now have visibility into who their favourite team's next star could be, sparking discussion and debate, and providing insight into how CFL rosters are built."

Negotiation Lists have served as the passageway to the CFL for many of the league's legendary names, including Milt Stegall, Chad Owens and Geroy Simon, as well as players whose legacies were built on both sides of the border, like Cameron Wake, Ricky Williams, Chad Johnson and Jeff Garcia. The league's current stars and headliners like Zach Collaros, Bo Levi Mitchell, Rolan Milligan Jr. and more, have found a home in the CFL after time spent on teams' lists.

Past Negotiation List activity involving popular players or enticing prospects has generated intrigue and spurred on dialogue. The shift towards greater transparency provides fans with a glimpse into the inner workings of the teams.

The complete CFL Negotiation Lists are available here  https://www.cfl.ca/negotiation-list/
