Yes.

MOS gave up the ball to start both halves, giving up much momentum and points.  We got that wind because MOS chose it.

And all the stupid fake things that went SSK's way this season that shouldn't have?  Like the 2 completely fake and made up ref #22 DPIs in our first game vs them?  Ya, there's your "real" win to still put us above SSK irrespective of any wind.

One coach took a 6 win team that didn't win a game after September last year to within 1 point of first place in the west.

The other coach took a 14 win team to 11 wins, won first in the west on the last week of the season & he needed a timely huge gust of wind at exactly the right time to do it.

MOS can't give up the ball twice. He won the toss, deferred to the second half like most coaches do. He took the wind in the 4th like most coaches do. (Note this doesn't include the domed stadiums) Standard run of the mill high school level coaching decisions.

Look at that... yet another snarky comment that adds nothing to the convo.

And the usual cranky rebuttal from Terry. ;D

O'Shea is the better (and classier) HC. That's not up for debate.

One coach won the West after starting 0-4 and 2-6 and the other coach blew the division after starting 5-1.

One coach is 107-69 and the other coach is 9-8-1.

One coach has won the division four straight years and been to five straight west finals and one coach has never won the division and will head coach his first ever divisional playoff game.

Before anyone thinks SSK is "hot" right now or their coach is God for winning so much after labor day, look at:

SSK's last few opponents:
CGY
BC (Rourke)
EDM
OTT (Masoli)
CGY

SSK had 5 gimmee games, with the hardest being EDM after they found their oats.

Who did WPG have in the same timeframe:
MTL
TOR
HAM (resurgent 500Y/game BLM)
EDM
EDM

So our "easiest" games were probably against the team that was the hardest for SSK.

We had the strange bad luck of often playing now-known-bad teams when they were still good, or thought they might be good.  For instance: Dru-led strong-start OTT in week 2, VAJ-led league-best BC in week 3, CGY in week 4 before their major suckage set in.

SSK often got teams at their weakest: early season EDM, HAM (twice), WPG (week 7, injury devastated).  Then late-season off-a-cliff teams CGY, BC (Rourke), OTT (Masoli)

SSK beat the league best WPG/TOR/MTL 2 times. (I exclude BC as Rourke-led BC was crap and Masoli-led OTT was crap, and even Dru was hot/cold.)

WPG beat the league best SSK/TOR/MTL 3 times.  WPG won the SSK season series.

SSK got EDM for their 3-game divisional matchup (other than WPG/SSK), and they got 2 of them pre-Jones firing (free bingo spots).

WPG got BC for their 3-game divisional matchup, and all of them were pre-Rourke, meaning back when BC/VAJ/McInnis were unstoppable and running away with the West.

If I look at the sum total of the path WPG had vs SSK, I think we were/are the strong and stout team and SSK are the lucky posers.  We fought through a hellish last 5 games, a tough LDC/BB home & home, and tough back to back VAJ BC wins.

I'm starting to talk myself into thinking this WDF will be an epic disaster for SSK!

Winning the division for 4 straight years and having a long term winning record doesn't mean squat to this years MOC.

One coach came back from a bad start of the season, the other came back from a bad middle of the season when their QB was hurt.

Fair. I don't really care who wins the award. I will tell you this though: there are very few coaches north or south of the border who find success year in and year out. Short term success? Yes. Long term? Incredibly rare.

In fact, there's about 40 coaches in the NFL north of 105 wins. That's a lot of teams and a lot of sample size. In the CFL? 8 coaches ALL TIME have more wins than O'Shea.

So sure, Mace at 9-8-1. Cool. Good story and maybe wins an award. But we're talking about legacies and coaching pedigrees in different stratospheres in the big picture. Should very much be acknowledged.

I'm talking about this year's MOC, not legacies etc. If you're talking about that, then MOS is the obvious choice.
