Isaiah Wooden to make CFL debut in Hamilton Tiger-Cats regular season finale
By 3Down Staff -October 24, 2024

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have tapped Isaiah Wooden as their kick returner for Friday's final regular season game against the Ottawa Redblacks.

The 24-year-old native of San Diego, Calif. signed with the Tiger-Cats earlier this month following his release from the B.C. Lions. He previously spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The five-foot-nine, 170-pound target played his final two collegiate seasons at Southern Utah University where he made 100 receptions for 1,726 yards and 20 touchdowns over two collegiate seasons. He also returned 14 kicks for 386 yards and was named All-United Athletic Conference in 2023. He reportedly ran a 4.38-second forty-yard dash at his pro day and leaped 44.5 inches in the vertical jump.

The Tiger-Cats have kept almost their entire starting lineup intact despite this game being meaningless in the standings. The only change is Carthell Flowers-Lloyd, who wasn't listed on the team's injury report this week, sitting out at strong-side linebacker. He will be replaced by Ray Wilborn, who has made 24 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble this season.

Hamilton will finish fourth in the East Division, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Bo Levi Mitchell, who has already surpassed 5,000 passing yards on the season, will be under centre ahead of Taylor Powell and Taulia Tagovailoa.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-10) will visit the Ottawa Redblacks (8-8-1) on Friday, Oct. 25 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Ottawa Redblacks to start Bralon Addison at running back against Tiger-Cats
By 3Down Staff -October 24, 2024

The Ottawa Redblacks will field a veteran-laden roster on Friday despite their game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats meaning nothing in the standings.

Franchise quarterback Dru Brown will remain under centre ahead of Jeremiah Masoli and Dustin Crum, while defensive end Bryce Carter has returned to the starting lineup after completing a stint on the six-game injured list. Carter made 18 defensive tackles and four sacks over the team's first 10 games but hasn't suited up since the end of August.

Bralon Addison has moved to the starting spot at running back, replacing Khalan Laborn. Addison has generally played receiver over his six-year CFL career, catching 225 passes for 2,674 yards and 12 touchdowns, though he has carried the ball 19 times for 113 yards for the Redblacks this season. Laborn, who started the club's last six games, has been moved to the practice roster.

Justin Hardy, the team's leading receiver, remains out due to an ankle injury with Andre Miller filling his starting spot. Veteran offensive lineman Jacob Ruby has also moved back into the starting lineup at left tackle, replacing Drake Centers, who was moved to the practice roster.

Adrian Frye has also been promoted to the active roster and will start in place of Bennett Williams, who didn't practice this week due to a head injury. Star return specialist DeVonte Dedmon has also returned to the lineup.

The Ottawa Redblacks (8-8-1) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-10) on Friday, Oct. 25 with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Wow, refs don't really care if D's come in and hit a REC from behind 2/10 to 7/10th of a second before the ball arriving anymore, do they?  Those used to be flagged much more often.

I just started this game and HAM is hitting every OTT REC early and then looking around for flags and seeing none.  Message sent: hit RECs early!

Prior to these plays, Litre was 26/29 (89.7%) on the season from under centre on situations where 1 yard or less is required. Odds say that it was the right call - who knew that he would be stuffed twice.

Yes, the 3rd down play call was questionable.

He's good but inconsistent.  Reminds me of Speedy B: small guy, fast.  He isn't as good as he was, even with "500Y Bo".  I doubt he gets over $200k next year.

Wasn't it White who held out for mega-money saying he deserved the whole world for a team to have the benefit of his services?  And he got some ridiculous $275k-level contract?

The funny thing is, HAM often puts White as backup (not starter), but makes him the DNA so he gets 23 snaps.  (Lets them field 1 less NAT for those 23 snaps.)  They did that this game!  Not many other teams are playing the stupid DNA/DNS nonsense anymore.

I remember early in the season they actually hit the 23 snaps and had to take him off when they still wanted to field him.

BLM getting the single-season HAM Y record may be enough to push him to win the E nomination... whether he gets the league nod remains to be seen.
