Well, Masoli takes them 79 yards for the major against the Hamilton prevent defense. It's something positive for the RBs.

Quote from: J5V on September 14, 2024, 09:24:45 PMJeremiah Masoli in for Dru Brown. I can't see it making a difference. Ottawa hasn't been in this game at all today. Ottawa could easily be down by 30 or 40 points in this one.

Hmmmmmm...

How Ottawa finds themselves in this game is just amazing.

How do the refs not see Hamilton

O lineman with a handful of d lineman's shirt. Out in the open.

Bell runs it in for Hamilton. Now a 16 point game again. 3:20 left. Anything still possible.
Go Bombers!

The play you're referring to is where everyone assumed it was exactly that penalty because we all saw it but no, the officials saw a facemask instead and flagged that.
Go Bombers!

That was a pitiful crowd for the hall of fame game that has cleared out early

Yah pretty disappointing, even in Ottawa attendance has dropped from last year despite going from a loser to a winner. Not sure what it will take to get more Canadians interested in their own brand of football, the NFL is doing gangbuster business in Canada.

I love the Canadian game compared to the American game but there is no doubt the NFL has some pretty incredible athletes in it. Way more teams also. The purpose of the media money in the CFL is to boost interest but it doesn't seem to be working, not yet anyway, and it can't compare to the media money spent on the NFL.

Ottawa is not a good/great team despite their record. The performance today was just awful. Six turnovers, swiss cheese defense, too many penalties, no fire or intensity, and another bad injury. They need to flush this one and reset if they can.
Go Bombers!

Quote from: J5V on September 14, 2024, 07:53:56 PMOh my! What was BLM doing there? Just threw the ball up for grabs and got picked in the end zone. What a bone-headed throw that was!

He was pressured/hit as he threw it.  Not really his fault.  Many QBs doing that this year.

Good to see Acklin doing Acklin things again.

OTT injuries today are going to hurt them going into the late season.  Big names going down.

The SJ Green highlight reel and this whole HOF class makes me once again realize the CFL doesn't have that type of R anymore.  Not even Kenny does those SJ Green catches, and certainly not at the frequency those dudes used to 10 years ago.

Quote from: J5V on September 14, 2024, 08:18:40 PMGood grief. Hamilton receiver digs hard to make the catch on the ball and the officials blow it dead (meaning they think it hit the ground). It didn't. It was a good catch. Can these officials just not see?

Well, the angle given wasn't enough to tell.  It looked like a catch, but can't be positive.  Of course, TSN won't show more angles because it would "make the league look bad", heaven forbid.

Quote from: J5V on September 14, 2024, 08:21:31 PMWelp, I'm not sure why that perfectly good catch that was ruled a non-catch wasn't overturned but whatever?!?

That type of ref screwup can't be auto-reviewed.  HC would have to challenge it.  Overturning it would be very, very hard given the new standard, even with some better camera angles.

In any case, it would be a lot like MOS's famous lose-yards challenge... because they blew it dead, any YAC would be thrown away.  Did he have the 1st down at the point of the catch?  If not, pointless to challenge.

The R was correct though: refs are supposed to let it play out if they aren't certain, and let video sort it out.  I wonder who the ref blowing it dead was...
