I noticed Hamilton was doing this with Litre, makes sense really, you have to lung forward 1 yard, give it to a guy who loves contact and is built for tough going.

i wanted the Bombers to go after Litre in F.A. to replace Jackson at FB, he's such a versatile player and wouldn't cost much, unfortunately at the time the Bombers had no money to go after anyone.

Sure we did. Lots of other adjustments to the roster and SMS could have been done before or during TC. He wouldn't have been expensive.

I didn't think he would want to leave the East.

I don't think MBT is getting boatloads of money, reports are "up to $500k with incentives" which I'm pretty sure won't get paid, as they are usually wins/performance based

And done what at QB, roll with Ford? It might have paid off considering no wins so far. MBT has not played badly but money spent elsewhere might have made a difference. Hindsight is perfect though.

They could have won 3 or 4 of those games, somewhat like the Bombers. Close doesn't help in the standings.

i'm not sure why more teams haven't gone with a FB for SY, rather than a QB.  If you have a Streveler or Prukop, sure, that's your best option, because they can option out of the sneak.  But for a straight sneak, a FB makes more sense, plus the injury factor diving into a pile of linemen.

1) A FB is part of your normal AR and probably has other duties, even if just ST.  A SY-only #3 QB (Prukop or Strev) is a "free dress" on the roster (forced to be on the roster! even if not dressed), and he literally has nothing else to do other than hold the clipboard.  As such, he also has nothing better to do all week than to practice and master sneaking (with maybe the odd pass).

2) A FB has other duties.  He needs to practice and master his blocking and sneak-out-TDs, among other things.  Why add to his plate?  He won't master SY whilst also mastering being a FB.  Look at how few SY dedicated QB-sneakers have become masters!  Prukop.  LeFeve.  Maybe throw Marve and Strev in there, maybe.  Look at how even dedicated ones like Caleb and Dom never quite reached that level.  Now take Litre or someone: they're going to somehow manage it along with their normal duties?

Use the free dressed QB.  Nobody needs two #2's (backup QBs)!  It would be too expensive and they'd probably kill each other competing.  Use that 3rd as SY.  WPG showed the league this is the best path for nearly a decade now.

Oh yes there is!  Jones wasn't getting blown out by 40 before garbage time this season, was he...  The most embarrassing EDM game came 2 weeks after Jones was fired.

So there is somewhere else they can go... back to 2 years ago where they lost most every game by 3+ scores.

BinBC is right: and being "close" makes fans waaaay happier than being down 20 after 1.5 quarters.  Aren't us WPG fans happier losing by 3 than having a 2014 team that we know is going to get killed?

Other than retaining their own I don't think the Bombers signed anyone in free agency.  Litre is from BC, played at Simon Fraser and spent the first 6 years of his CFL career playing for western teams, so I don't think he'd have a problem leaving the East.

No matter, I think MCI has a bright future as an underused FB/TE that rarely touches the ball.

Well, agree to disagree. Jones should have been canned long before he was. I don't believe he was going to turn it around. So now there's an actually probability of improvement that didn't exist before.

He never should have been hired as a HC. He DEFINITELY should never have been hired as the GM/HC/DC. It's one of those situations where you did not need hindsight at all. Everyone knew it was dumb the second it happened.

We didn't sign an non bomber FA's, and were not able to even sign all the bomber FA's we wanted to.  So, unless a player was super good AND super cheap, there is a reason the bombers were not active in FA.
