QB Mason Fine, REC Brayden Lenius headline Roughriders final roster cuts

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released 21 players ahead of the CFL's roster cutdown deadline, including American quarterback Mason Fine and Canadian receiver Brayden Lenius.

The 27-year-old Fine was engaged in a contentious battle for the backup quarterback role, but lost out to Shea Patterson. Short-yardage option Antonio Pipkin was also released, leaving Trevor Harris, Patterson, and rookie Jack Coan as the three QBs left on the team's roster.

How about with Winnipeg.I am more than a little concerned with how poorly the bombers two qbs played last night

Wow, Mason Fine was released?? I thought he showed great promise last year before getting hurt. and Dolengala is gone...Who do the Riders have to replace Harris when he gets hurt again??

Blueforlife

Fine is a reasonable backup imo

CrazyCanuck89

I'm assuming you guys sign Mason Bennett?

Pete

Mason Fine would be a good add, so too would Mason Bennet who the ticats released or Frederico

KINGCHARLES

soooo if the Bombers were worried about 3rd string QB....Prukop, Fine and Pipkin are available....I'm sure if these guys are on a roster they end up coming cheap.

I'd rather use the spot to develop a prospect than hold onto a retread.
My wife is amazing!

Pete

of note Fine is only 27, so can still develop. I'd pick him up vs what we have. If we find another prospect fine...er good

Don't see Mason Fine as the future replacement for Zach, and that's the type of QB  they should be looking for this year.  Now if the Stamps release Bonner or the Elks Doege, my ears would perk up.

Shea Patterson outplayed Fine and Pipkin in pre-season and actually looked pretty good.
