Blue Bombers sign Ohio State all-time receptions leader K.J. Hill

WINNIPEG, MB., February 26, 2024 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American receiver K.J. Hill.

Hill (6-0, 196; Ohio State, September 15, 1997, in Little Rock, AR) was selected with the 220th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers.

He appeared in 50 career games for the Buckeyes and set the school's all-time receptions record with 201 -- previously held by David Boston. Hill recorded a reception in 48 straight games (tying a school record), also tallying 2,332 career receiving yards (7th all-time in school history) and 20 touchdowns, including ten as a senior in 2019.

Hill, a co-captain as a senior, won three consecutive Big Ten championships with Ohio State from 2017-2019.

Like this pickup as well, this guy looks like he's made for the bomber offence. good hands, thrives in the midzone and   a very good route runner. Would augment our receivers very well.

This one is a pretty big deal! I think we have a frontrunner for the 5th WR spot!

Looks like a good signing. The battle for the 5th spot/ two PR spots should be very good

Only cautionary note is that he was released in oct 2021, doesn't look like he's played since then
But he did have all the tools, hope he arrives in shape

Looks to be a good prospect to fill Sheed's boots....tall order as Sheed brought so much more to the field and locker room

We will miss the physicality that Sheed brought to the field for sure. It's tough to find receivers that are willing to block LB's or put their shoulder down and go through a guy for the extra yard and a first down.

Agree, a rookie is not going to step in and duplicate the multiple skills Bailey brought to the team.  It took Bailey a few years to establish his identity as a reliable inside receiver and excellent blocker, neither Lawler or Schoen would be good at that job.  If they can find a good route runner with some speed and good hands as a replacement, that's about as much as we can expect.

He may fill Sheeds position on the DC, but not his shoes... completely different player.
