Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign offensive lineman Larnel Coleman

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed offensive lineman Larnel Coleman on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Larnel Coleman
is six foot six and weighs 310 pounds. The 25-year-old from Malden, Massachusetts, signed with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) on December 13, 2023, but the original Roughnecks were not included in the XFL and USFL merger that formed the United Football League (UFL).

Instead, the Houston Gamblers (USFL) were rebranded as the Roughnecks. The Birmingham Stallions drafted Coleman in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft but released him on March 10, 2024.

Before Birmingham, Coleman was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (231st pick) in the 2021 NFL Draft. He did not play in 2021 due to a knee injury. In 2022, he played one game for the Dolphins before spending time on their practice squad. However, Coleman signed with the Carolina Panthers on October 25, 2022. He was released by the Panthers on August 26, 2023, after playing three preseason games.

Collegiately, Coleman played four seasons at the University of Massachusetts (2017-20) playing both tackle positions in 36 games for the Minutemen. In 2018, UMass ranked 14th in FBS in passing offense (298.1 yards per game), 16th in passing efficiency (153.91), and 34th in total offense (437.6 yards per game).

BLUE BOMBERS ADD OFFENSIVE TACKLE TO ROSTER

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American offensive lineman Larnel Coleman.

Coleman
(6-6, 310; UMass, born: June 22, 1998, in Malden,  MA) was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (231st pick) in the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2022, he played one game for the Dolphins before spending time on their practice squad. He then signed with the Carolina Panthers in October of 2022 and was released the following training camp. Coleman played four seasons at Massachusetts (2017-20), seeing action at both tackle positions in 36 games for the Minutemen.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign defensive back Terrell Bonds

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Terrell Bonds on Friday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Terrell Bonds is five foot eight and weighs 182 pounds. The 27-year-old from Miami, Florida, was drafted by the Birmingham Stallions in the 2024 UFL Dispersal Draft but was released on March 10, 2024. In 2023, he played for the San Antonio Brahmas (XFL) with 14 tackles (11 solo, 3 assists), three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and 11 punt returns for 108 yards in nine games, of which he started one.

Before Birmingham, Bonds went undrafted in 2018 and played for the Memphis Express (AAF) in 2019 with 17 tackles (16 solo, 1 assist), and one blocked punt in eight games before the league ceased operations.

Next, Bonds signed with the Baltimore Ravens on May 6, 2019, and spent the season on the practice squad. Bonds made his Ravens debut in 2020 with six tackles (6 solo) in four games before returning to the practice squad. Bonds also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans.

In 2022, Bonds was drafted by the Pittsburgh Maulers (USFL) in the fourth round (32nd pick) in the 2022 USFL Draft. He made 18 tackles (12 solo, 6 assists), one interception, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in 10 games.

Collegiately, Bonds played four seasons at Tennessee State (2014-17) with 95 tackles (72 solo, 23 assists), two tackles for loss, 10 interceptions for 174 yards, two touchdowns, 28 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 39 games for the Tigers. In 2014, Bonds recorded a career-high five tackles in the season finale at Murray State helping them finish as the OVC's top pass defense (153.3 yards per game).

Blue Bombers add defensive back

WINNIPEG, MB., March 23, 2024 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive back Terrell Bonds.

Bonds (5-9, 185; Tennessee State, born: June 22, 1996, in Miami, FL) most recently played the 2023 season with the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL, making 14 tackles, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and 11 punt returns for 108 yards in nine games.

Bonds was undrafted and signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. After spending that season on the practice roster, he saw action in four games with Baltimore in 2020, making six tackles, and then spent the remainder of the season on the PR. He spent the 2022 season with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the USFL.

Bonds played four seasons at Tennessee State recording 95 tackles, ten interceptions, two touchdowns, 28 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 39 games for the Tigers.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign OL Khalil Keith and DB Juan Lua

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed offensive lineman Khalil Keith and defensive back Juan Lua on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Khalil Keith
is six foot five and weighs 314 pounds. A native of Alpine, Alabama, Keith played two games for the Philadelphia Stars (USFL) in 2023. The Stars' offense ranked third in passing (213.3 yards per game), finished last in rushing (77 yards per game), 20 touchdowns, and allowed a league-high 29 sacks.

Collegiately, Keith played 47 games in six seasons at Baylor (2017-22), playing left guard and right tackle in 47 games, of which 20 were starts for the Bears.

In 2022, Pro Football Focus ranked Keith as the 11th-best tackle in the Big 12 and the 167th-best in college football, earning a 67.7 rating, with an 81.8 pass-blocking and a 59.2 run-blocking grade. His 81.8 pass-blocking rating was the third-best in the Big 12. In 2023, he played in the Hula Bowl.

Keith was a two-time All-State offensive lineman from Winterboro High School in Alpine, Alabama. He also earned the 2016 first-team 1A-3A All-Talladega County honors after helping Winterboro to a 6-5 record and playoffs.

Juan Lua
is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. A native of Indio, California, Lua made 23 tackles (14 solo, 9 assists), two interceptions, and seven pass breakups in 12 games for the UMass Minutemen in 2023.

Collegiately, Lua played one season at the College of Desert in 2019 with 58 tackles (25 solo, 33 assists), two tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups in 10 games for the Roadrunners. Next, Lua transferred to Saddleback College in 2021 with 23 tackles (15 solo, 8 assists), one interception, and five pass breakups in nine games for the Bobcats.

Then, Lua transferred to the University of Massachusetts (2022-23) with 29 tackles (18 solo, 11 assists), two interceptions, and seven pass breakups in 24 games for the Minutemen.

BLUE BOMBERS ADD THREE TO ROSTER
APRIL 2, 2024

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed three Americans — offensive lineman Khalil Keith, linebacker Juan Lua and defensive back Montrae Braswell.

Keith (6-5, 314; Baylor; born: September 12, 1998, in Alpine, AL) joins the Blue Bombers after playing two games in 2023 with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL and following a mini-camp look by the New York Giants last year. Keith played in 47 games during his college days at Baylor (2017-22) with 20 of them starts, seeing action at both left guard and right tackle.

Lua
(6-0, 190; Massachusetts; born: August 15, 2001 in  Indio, CA) played safety with the Minutemen last year, registering 23 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass breakups in 12 games. He began his collegiate career at College of the Desert in 2019 and then transferred to Saddleback College in 2021 and then to UMass in 2022.

Braswell (6-0, 190, Missouri State; born: December 6, 1998 in Avon Park, FL) was a standout cornerback and kick returner for Missouri State. In 29 career games he recorded six interceptions, 25 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and 125 tackles, while as a returner he averaged 30.0 yards per return in three seasons, including touchdowns of 100, 96 and 98 yards. He signed with Kansas City following the 2023 NFL Draft, and later spent brief time with the Seahawks during training camp last season.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive back Montrae Braswell on Tuesday.

Montrae Braswell is six foot and weighs 190 pounds. The 25-year-old from Avon Park, Florida, signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks (UFL) on December 13, 2023, but was released on March 10, 2024. Before St. Louis, Braswell signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He would later spend time with the Seattle Seahawks playing one preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys recording no stats.

Collegiately, Braswell played one season at Central Michigan in 2019 with 34 tackles (24 solo, 10 assists), one interception for 16 yards, 11 pass breakups, and 13 kick returns for 289 yards in 14 games for the Chippewas. He ranked fourth in the MAC in pass breakups (11).

Then, Braswell transferred to Missouri State (2020-22) with 125 tackles (94 solo, 31 assists), three tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions for 82 yards, two touchdowns, 25 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 39 kick returns for 1,170 yards, three touchdowns, and two punt returns for one yard in 29 games for the Bears.

He was named a three-time First Team All-MVFC as both a defensive back and returner, along with three-time All-American by AP, STATS, Phil Steele, and Hero Sports.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign linebacker Chauncey Rivers

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed linebacker Chauncey Rivers on Tuesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Chauncey Rivers is six foot two and weighs 259 pounds. The 26-year-old from Stone Mountain, Georgia, made 16 tackles (9 solo, 7 assists), five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and three quarterback hits in ten games for the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) in 2023. The D.C. Defenders (UFL) signed Rivers as a free agent on February 28, 2024, and was later traded to the Birmingham Stallions. The Stallions released him on March 22, 2024.

In the playoffs, Rivers made three tackles (3 solo) against the Arlington Renegades. The Roughnecks drafted Rivers in the sixth round (45th pick) of Phase 3 of the 2023 XFL Draft.

Before Houston, Rivers signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He appeared in one game for the Ravens while spending the rest of the season on the practice squad. Next, he was acquired off waivers by the Green Bay Packers in 2021. Rivers played four games for Green Bay making two tackles (2 solo).

Collegiately, Rivers played one season at Georgia in 2015 making four tackles (3 solo, 1 assist) and one tackle for loss in two games for the Bulldogs. Next, he transferred to East Mississippi Community College in 2016 making 45 tackles (25 solo, 20 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games for the Lions.

Then, Rivers transferred to Mississippi State (2017-19) making 67 tackles (32 solo, 35 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in 25 games for the Bulldogs. He was named Second Team All-SEC by the Associated Press in 2019 and was a 2020 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Participant.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers transfers defensive lineman Nate Givhan to the retired list

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have transferred defensive lineman Nate Givhan to the retired list on Wednesday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Nate Givhan is six foot two and weighs 239 pounds. The 25-year-old from Montgomery, Alabama, was on the Blue Bombers practice squad in 2023. He was released by Winnipeg on September 28, 2023, and later re-signed with Winnipeg on November 28, 2023.

Before Winnipeg, Givhan played his final season at Toledo, Givhan had 27 tackles (12 solo, 15 assists), 6.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one forced fumble in 11 games for the Rockets in 2022.

In addition, he had two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist), one tackle for loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack in the RoofClaim.com Boca Raton Bowl as the Rockets defeated the Liberty Flames 21-19 and was named defensive MVP.

BLUE BOMBERS ADD DEFENSIVE LINEMAN TO ROSTER

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has signed American defensive lineman Chauncey Rivers.

Rivers
(6-2, 259; Mississippi State, born: June 12, 1997, in Stone Mountain, GA) most recently played with the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL in 2023, recording 16 tackles, five tackles for a loss and 2.5 quarterback sacks. He signed with the D.C. Defenders of the United Football League in February and was traded to the Birmingham Stallions before being released in late March.

Rivers began his pro career with the Baltimore Ravens, signing with the club as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He appeared in one game with the Ravens, spending the rest of the season on the practice roster. The Green Bay Packers acquired Rivers off waivers in 2021 and he appeared in four games and making two tackles.

Rivers began his collegiate career at the University of Georgia in 2015 but was released for disciplinary reasons. The then suited up for East Mississippi Community College, where he was part of the Last Chance U documentary series on Netflix. He finished his collegiate career at Mississippi State, and made 67 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, three pass knockdowns and one forced fumble in 25 games. He was named Second Team All-SEC by the Associated Press in 2019 and was a 2020 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl Participant.
