Jeffcoat injured in first half. If looking like a long term absence, Shawn lemon might be an option.

I feel the same way about Lemon....think he would fit in nicely with the "most experienced" team in the CFL. How does an almost 35 year old pass rush specialist who had 14 sacks last year not have an active roster spot anywhere? Its weird he gives me the same vibes as Charleston Hughes did in 2017 then Hughes went on to play 4 more seasons and add 37 more sacks to his career and retire at 39 years old.

Thing is it felt noticeable in the 2nd half that we weren't getting as much pressure with Jeffcoat out but then this Haba kid gets aprox 3 tackles and a sack...
The physical tape and bio  on Haba is he is  only 1 inch shorter,  1 lb lighter, and  9 years younger than Jeffcoat played college ball in Texas. So I'm sure there must be some kind of connection to Jefferson and Jeffcoat somehow.
At this moment the Bombers are thin at DE with Hansen on the 6 game, Jeffcoat is undetermined (hip or head).

Other options for DE if Jeffcoat is out and Haba doesn't work out: -Keion Adams? still a FA probably comes cheaper than Lemon and thought he played very well for us last year
-was there anyone else in TC that deserves another shot? sometimes TC cuts that don't go on the practice roster still hang around.
                                                                                               - Walters and his scouts are probably hard at work looking for a DE. They are always looking at improving potential weaknesses.

Agree. Love JJ94, but he just can't stay healthy. Put him on the 6 game and get him right.

Would be a great signing with Jeffcoat down. Let Haba and Bennett be around as many veterans as possible. Only will help them grow

Certainly no panic with Haba looking like he might be productive and Hansen eventually coming back, but they have to prepare for the worst scenario with Jeffcoat.  Cedric Wilcots is currently on Hamilton's 6 game, I'm thinking they'll have a hard time finding room for him when he recovers and they may end up cutting him.  He was much better than Keion Adams and the Bombers only traded him away in order to acquire Darby, he might even be worth a trade if the Bombers end up with an over supply of good DB's. Also not opposed to bringing in an experienced pass rusher like Lemon, if they can come to terms.

I agree about Haba and would love to see Lemon, but also of concern was our defensive tackles only had one tackle combined, maybe we'll see more of caleb Thomas who I thought had a good preseason

Sayles already getting that "oh no, what have I done?" look that so many ex-Bombers get after leaving the best team...

I hate to say it, Jeffcoat may be done.  He may be the next Nevis and Stove: almost zero games played right after leaving WPG.  Jeffcoat's body might just be falling apart and will just get injury after injury.

Jeffcoat on 6-game, or not playing at all this year, gives us big SMS cap space.  Why not make a play for Kongbo?  Did HAM even use him last night?  Dressed but I didn't see him.  Kongbo wants to think he's starting-material in the CFL, ok give him a his chance and have him prove it.

I also like Lemon, and he'd be cheaper and DNA-material.  We don't really need a NAT starting DE, unless we want to sit Fatboi a lot in favor of Caleb Thomas (for a 2-IMP DT unit).  Fatboi is looking pretty good so far, though.

If we keep and put our faith in Jeffcoat, then maybe we use him like TOR uses AH33... play him the odd time when not too beat up, and save him for the post-season and hope he has a couple of beast-mode plays.

Oh ya, by waiting until Jeffcoat got hurt, Lemon's price for us just went up at least $50k.  Doh

Also, you guys are right: Haba looked very very good in his first CFL game.  So we don't have to panic-sign anyone... yet.

And he was only signed a week ago.....not much time to get comfortable yet he shone when given the opportunity....

We might have something in Haba but we need another American to rotate with him.

Next man up, trust that we have someone in the pipe that can make it work.  If Jeffcoat is out long term maybe consider bringing in a body.  I do like Lemon, just not at the moment.  I think who we have is decent with likely a good future.  They will greatly benefit from some reps.  Had no big concerns about the D Friday but Bo did suck.

Long story short, not on speed dial but on the 1st or 2nd page of the roladex lol.

I think HAM sucking was more a function of our DL and blitz packages being stout.  We were getting through and/or pressure on at least 50% of snaps.  It was amazing.  Run D still needs some work: too many 10 yard gains, but wasn't nearly as bad as we had feared.

Bo really only sucked on the 4-5 overthrows and the 1 bad miscommunication.  If he gets half those big gains, the game might have been much closer.  But just like the last couple of years in CGY, he wasn't dialled in.

And HAM was the team that was supposed to be the unstoppable force with all the league-best personnel!!  Their DL stunk!  I think they got pressure and/or through to Zach less than 10% of snaps.  (Buck calling had a lot to do with that, but OL was amazing too.)

Our D is very good on QBs that is not a threat to run but they struggle (sometimes) on the athletic ones.
