Rat squad out in full force?  Not that I have anything against COVID fines, and quite frankly if you're going to be an idiot you deserve it, but encouraging neighbours to rat each other out seems real cold war German era BS.

The US had about 180,000 cases yesterday and around 2000 deaths. Doctors on CNN predicting that these numbers will double in two weeks. The American just can't stay at home or social distance. US airports were very busy yesterday with Thanks Giving Travelers.

They'll more than double in two weeks time.  Take a look at the Canadian thanksgiving trend.  We're up 250% since mid October, and Thanksgiving is far less of a big deal here than in the US.  Couple that with Black Friday sales the next day, I won't be surprised if they are at 600000 - 800000 cases a day by Christmas.  Which will have it's own wave.

As much as I don't want/can't see the Government (effectively) cancelling Christmas this year in Canada, when it happens I won't be surprised.

I can't see them reaching 600K-800K by Christmas but the numbers will be going up.

I certainly hope not, but to summarize a conversation I had with a coworker in Colorado on Tuesday

Him - "Yeah, cases are up like 700% here from when they shut everything down in the spring, looks like my kids will be home schooled until January"

Me - "I guess that means virtual Thanksgiving and no Black Friday shopping"

Him - "No, still getting together with family, sister coming in from DC, going to do what we always do."

And the guy I'm talking to here isn't a longarmed Trumpophile missing 60% of his teeth.

I really dislike this perception.

I'm a teacher and one lesson I really try to drill into younger students is the difference between snitching/tattling and informing the teacher when something is wrong.

I don't want to hear that Kimmy is listening to music, or Tommy got out of his chair, or Steve is drawing instead of reading. Those things only affect the person who is messing around and others   need to mind their own business.

But when someone sees someone being bullied, or is interfering with others trying to stay on task, or is acting in a dangerous way - that needs to be brought to my attention. The person telling me has done nothing wrong - it is solely on the person who is acting stupidly.

Same thing here. You want to be a good neighbour? Don't be the one putting us all at risk or perpetuating this lockdown. Don't blame the one making the call when you're the idiot.
