From what I've read, the XFL pays less than the CFL.

If McGuire can only run a stunted version of the offence there is little advantage to be gained and likely momentum to be lost in a switch-out.

The advantage is on the SY play the D might bring in their beef set.  After the sneak and 1st down, if you leave McGuire in on tempo for an immediate snap, you force the D to stay the beef set.  That's a huge O advantage for a passing play on that first down.  Doesn't matter if we don't run it like we did with Strev... we can still win with McGuire just passing.

If I had to bet money, I bet we'll at least try it for the first few games and see how well it works out!  And I think McGuire can rush better than you guys are giving him credit: better than Collaros or Nichols, that's for sure.

But in American funds which gives them a 25 % advantage plus  fewer games to earn their pay.  That was one reason that the CFL had to go higher in minimum category for pay scale.

I assume we all loved the running ability of Strv.  Da!  I hope we get another young guy, that loves to take off, ad of course get. 1st downs in the 3rd and 1.
Strev was/is actually athletic and physical.  That's what I hope we can find.

Or even a skinny little. Guy who danger 1st downs running, but ca throw the ball, a bit.
Now that's all easier said, than done.

But hey Strev had to earn his Spurs, and if we get some. New young athlete who also wants an opportunity, and provide a lot of heart, etc., bring him in.

I don't have much confidence in McGuire being a significant running threat.  Obviously, as the clipboard holder, with virtually zero stats concerns me. Greatly.

But everyone has to start somewhere.  Apparently he is worthy of our patience .
As I said, earlier, Darwin Adams is our next best player at the QB position.

That is a concern.

Well every starting QB in the CFL has more mobility and can run better the Nichols. However I do agree that Mcguire probably moves better then Collaros, and it's also a better choice for the team.

This seems like an insane thing to say.

What so insane about it?? Would you rather have McGuire running the ball or Collaros.

I don?t , I d rather have Collaros throwing the ball!!!

The infatuation with a running Qb is concerning. Streveler had to be a good running Qb to stick around as his passing game sucked and wasn?t getting the job done.

As for Collaros s running ability, he has enough to evade wound he tacklers then make the killer throw like he did vs Calgary to Adams to win the game.

And remember, a primary running style Qb has a short shelf life as they take a tremendous beating. As fun as it was to watch strev truck guys, he did play hurt throughout the playoffs and I doubt he has a 5 year career pounding it every week

It's insane in that Collaros has shown he is very mobile over an entire career whereas we've never seen McGuire running the ball.

Saying he is more mobile than Collaros is simply silly.

I spent a lot of time at bomber practise last year and I can tell you that Mcquire moves very well.

I went a couple times myself and I agree. I think he can pose a similar threat with a potential better throwing option than Streveler. This guy has been paying his dues as well. This could be the year he blossoms if needed. Should be fun to analyze.
