Should the Bombers have any interest? He's still only 24.

From Dunk:

Veteran quarterback Antonio Pipkin has been released by the Montreal Alouettes.

The 24-year-old was due a roster bonus of $8,500 on February 1, followed by a series of $5,000 roster bonuses on March 1, April 1, and May 1.

Pipkin joined the Alouettes in June 2017 and saw his first CFL action late that year. Cut by the club in June 2018, he was later re-signed following injuries to the team?s other quarterbacks.
Pipkin entered the 2019 season as Montreal?s starting pivot but lost the job to Vernon Adams Jr. after suffering an injury in the team?s first regular season game.

The Tiffin product dressed for 27 games as a member of the Alouettes, completing 99-of-182 passes for 1,295 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also ran the ball 58 times for 318 yards and nine scores.

Rather have MBT but Pipkin is a good option as well.

He has a completely different running style than Streveler, but if Strev won't be back, Pipkin might be able to pull some of those kind of plays off.

He might have more experience than McGuire but not substantially more, hopefully the Bombers employ the backup with the greatest future potential to become a starter.

I agree, if we can't get Strv17 back here, MBT would be a nice pickup.

Agree.

Now that we have won a cup, I feel less pressure and desperation to have a vet backup who will probably never be a great starter. I would love to groom McGuire this year and give him #2 reps and appropriate in-game action. We need to start thinking about our future. Of course, if Strev returns we take him but I think we should have the mentality of being prepared to roll with McGuire.

You unrepentant homers....

Look, Pipkin has 1200+ yards, is 2-2 in starts (2018) and has shown he has some physical ability and can win a game.

McGuire is 2/3 and 17 yards  How can anyone possibly conclude that he has more ability, upside or potential than Pipkin at this point? I am not saying McGuire won't turn into a CFL HoF QB, who knows what is possible.  But if Collaros takes a noggin shot next August, I want a guy on the bench who has at least won a game in the CFL.  At the very least, a guy like Pipkin should be brought in to compete with McGuire.

Not concluding anything. But I got a #12 McGuire game-worn jersey at the locker room sale - it was pretty clean Smiley - and I want to wear it.
