How is MBT notable? He lost his job the day Toronto signed Nichols, especially now that Nichols has a whole year to recover from his injury.
he is notable because he played and was great at throwing to the wrong team. Cheesy

CFL opt out window for players who want to explore NFL possibilities closes Thursday at noon
By Justin Dunk - September 2, 2020

There have been a number of CFL players opt out of their contracts since the 2020 season was cancelled to be available for potential NFL employment.

The players' union updated its membership via memo:

Over the last few days we have been able to receive further information regarding players benefit eligibility. The CFL and member clubs as employers have provided a listing of all eligible players under contract as per the government legislation. With this information now available, the opt out period will close on Thursday, September 3rd, at 12pm EST.

All players who are eligible for the program and are currently under contract will receive the benefit. Please contact your Club's finance department to ask them what payments you will be receiving, on the assumption that you will not be `opting-out`of your contract.

The operation of the NFL window for this upcoming off-season is still unclear. The League showed last year that they were not willing to abide by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and provide the window as negotiated. It is not clear at this time if the window, as negotiated, will be in `in-effect` this December. Please use that information when making your decision during this window.

All eligible players will receive full government wage subsidies (CEWS) from July 2020 up until the end of December. Players currently receiving medical coverage will have that coverage extended to the start of Training Camp in 2021. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, please contact your member club directly.

Players electing to terminate their SPC's will have both the medical and government wage subsidies cease from the date of release from their contract. This decision will be final once made.

Slim chance any of them would have been starting. Most if not all would have been cut after TC or on the PR.

That's true but at the same time the scouts work hard to bring in competition for TC and every guy that opts out is a guy we have to convince to come back or replace with another good prospect. You never know if any of these guys was a future CFL star.

We may never know what these players would have brought to the team. Maybe they return or have success with another chance in the XFL or NFL.

Every star player started off as a rookie in a TC somewhere. We may have released the next Stegall or S. Bryant.

We'll have to wait and see if their names pop up again in Winnipeg. Still 1 year left on their contracts if they return to CFL.

Notice Andrew Harris is in the last year of his contract and wondering what the consensus opinion is.

Loonie Cap has him listed at $215,000 and he will be 34 before the season starts. Would you let him go to free agency? Is he done? Couldn't go out on a better note.

On the other hand he is twice as expensive as the next most expensive running back. National status helps.

I guess they sign him for another three years at the same money although I don't mind seeing Oliviera or Augustine get a chance.

Best back in the CFL last year.  Any team that wouldn't try to sign him is stupid.  Even in decline (lol!), he's consistently batter than anyone else in the league ATM.

If there is CFL football next? AH33 will be with the bombers. I can see him signing one year deals until be decides to retire.

IIRC we have about 30 of our team as potential free agents. The 1st thing we need to know is whether there is an adjustment to the 2021 SMS and possibility of changes to roster size and ratio.

I'd like AH back and think he still has the ability and desire to play. Whether a 2021 season happens and what it looks like is still up in the air. Nothing obviously says we can put fans back in the stands. It can happen but it's still TBD.
