Don't want to muddy up the roster thread too much (should make new threads guys!), but I still think Tasker is a pass.  I did want to mention that it appears no one has Armanti Edwards yet(?)... he would make a good acquisition if you can't get Walker, and if he's sufficiently cheap.  1014 yds in '19 and one of the few bright lights in TOR.  At 32 he can't be asking for the world.  And he's FAKENAT qualified.

He's also playing in the XFL. No one will sign him until after that season IF he passes the physical.

Appleby is interesting. 6'-5", 240, has a good arm and looks a lot like Strv17 running the ball. It will be interesting to see how he does at TC.

Argh, thanks a ton cfl.ca/fa20 CFL page!!  Edwards is listed as still a FA on that page.  I thought NFL/XFL-bound players get a "released" note there!!  How on earth are we supposed to tell from that page if a guy is still available to CFL FA or whether he's gone to the USA then??  Argh.  Thanks for updating me, guys.

XFL has cancelled the remainder of their games in 2020. Players are allowed to sign in the NFL but no mention of being allowed to sign in the CFL.

I wonder if this changes later and we see a few players able to come north.

All that considered I'm not sure the CFL won't see a delay or change to the length of their season.

Combines and free agent camps already put on hold.

I hope that is the case but for world health reasons and not just because of the football issue.

From a football point of view it messes up timing of free agent camps. Depending on how long that's put on hold, I'm not sure how that impacts recruitment overall. You can't hold 10 free agent camps a week before the main TC and sign players you want.

It may even be a larger problem with the global players being under higher restrictions due to covid 19 for longer periods in Europe??

BOMBERS ADD TWO TO ROSTER

WINNIPEG, MB., March 17, 2020 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has added American defensive back Damian Swann and international quarterback Dru Brown.

Swann (6-0, 190, Georgia, December 4, 1992 in Atlanta, GA) was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by New Orleans. He spent two seasons with the Saints, playing in seven games with two starts. Swann registered 22 tackles and four pass deflections during that time. Swann spent four seasons at the University of Georgia prior to being drafted.

Brown (5-11, 200, Oklahoma State/Hawaii; born: 3/21/1997 in Palo Alto, CA ) joins the Bombers after finishing up his collegiate career for the Cowboys. Voted team captain for 2019 by his teammates, Brown appeared in seven games for OSU last season, starting the final three after an injury to starter Spencer Sanders, and completed 67.3 percent of his passes for 810 yards with seven touchdowns against one interception.

In OSU's last game of the season, a 24-21 loss to Texas A&M in the 2019 Texas Bowl, Brown completed 15 of 28 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for another score.

Brown was a graduate transfer to OSU in 2018 after two seasons at Hawai'i. He was the recipient of the coach Tom Kaulukukui Offensive Captain Award in 2017 and named one of four team captains prior to the season. During his two seasons with the Rainbow Warriors Brown threw for 5,273 yards with 37 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He was named MVP of the 2016 Hawai'I Bowl after throwing for four TDs and rushing for another in a 52-35 victory over Middle Tennessee.

Brown played his freshman year at the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, CA and threw for 21 TDs while rushing for six others in being named the team's MVP.

Bombers place quarterback Austin Appleby on the retired list
By 3Down Staff - March 18, 2020

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have placed quarterback Austin Appleby on the retired list.

The 26-year-old Appleby had signed a futures contract with the club last November.

- Darren Cameron (@Darren_Cameron) March 18, 2020

Appleby has accepted a job as the wide receivers coach at Missouri State University.

Couldn't be more thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such a great staff and even better players as the new Wide Receivers Coach at Missouri State University! Excited to start the journey! @MOStateFootball #GoBears

- Austin Appleby (@AAppleby12) March 2, 2020

Winnipeg had inked Appleby as a competitor at the quarterback position after losing Matt Nichols to the Toronto Argonauts and Chris Streveler to an NFL opportunity with the Arizona Cardinals.

Through Appleby's four-year NCAA career, he played for Purdue University and the University of Florida. He compiled a 6-12 win-loss record, 4,224 passing yards, 29 touchdowns versus 26 interceptions, and 245 rushing yards with nine touchdowns on the ground.

The North Canton, Ohio native has used his connections in the college ranks to get himself a coaching job, but it means, in all likelihood, Appleby won't play for the Bombers.

The link below might clear up that question:

Anyone heard of any XFL players with enough talent to be signed by the NFL is what you really should be asking. That was some pretty brutal football.
