Here's a nice story about him...

I was at the Ott game with my brother, nephew and his buddy (kids are grade 5). We had great seats 12 rows behind the BB bench that game. Anyways, Rose was one of only a few players that made the effort to come over after prayers, player handshakes, etc to show some love to the fans, give high fives, autographs, etc.

He didn't have to do it, and is probably tired and ready to get on with his night. While doing some high-fives, he decided to take off his gloves and give one to each kid in front of him. He then came over to our kids and gave one his arm guard. He apologized he didn't have anything else to give, and made sure to greet each kid he passed.

Classy man, I'll always be a fan after that.

Just one year, IIRC.

He's been a heck of an acquisition. Great month for him!

Kudos to him.

Great signing. Replaced Randle (arguably improved the position) at a cheaper salary.

Hope he continues his success and can re-sign him after we win the cup this year.

BC's loss is our gain.  How could they not sign all those DBS?

Because they had to pay Reilly $725 000.

Arguably?Huh

Randle was clearly on the downturn of his career here. He's been torched in Ottawa, so bad in fact, he's been a healthy scratch there.

That's a no doubt about it, big time upgrade.

Yes, KW's FA footwork just gets better and better (forgetting a certain AB for now...).  Rose was one of the best steals in FA.

Great story rubanski!  Class act.

Funny how our D is like 30% ex-Lion, especially where it counts  Wink   Our O used to look like 25% ex-Rider, and that never worked out as well.  I think picking up the Buono-tablescraps was a much better strategy.

And, like most CanMafia signings, Rose seems like a perfect MOS locker-room guy.

From CFL

Some of the more obscure CFL records only date back to 1994 as play-by-play records prior 1994 were not retained.

The stat posted is consecutive games with an interception, not total number of interceptions over a time period.

I'm not surprised at all by Winston Rose's performance this year. In a very conservative Mark Washington defence he still was among the league leaders in INTs last season. In Hall's defence ball hawks thrive because he gives them more carte blanche to position themselves to ball hawk than many DCs.

I wrote "arguably" loosely because I was concerned about getting flamed by those who still think it was a bad move (probably none of those left). I obviously think it's clear it's a significant improvement.

I did not know Randle was a healthy scratch in Ottawa though- yikes! Dodged a bullet there. Walters really got the best-before date right on him.

I love what Rose has been doing this year.

Just had to add to all these juicy stats...

Most Interceptions, one season

15 - Al Brenner (1972)
14 - Less Browne (1990)
13 - Roy Bennett (1987)
12 - Larry Crawford (1983)
12 - Gerald Bess (1984)
12 - Paul Bennett (1985)
12 - Less Browne (1985)
12 - Terry Irvin (1986)
12 - Rod Hill (1989)
12 - Rod Hill (1990)
12 - Ryan Phillips (2007)

Thx wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_Football_League_records_(individual)

1990 was a hell of a year for BB DBs Hill and Brown.

Update to my previous stat graphic

Tom Casey had a streak of 5 consecutive games with an interception in 1952. In those same 5 games, Casey recorded 10 TDs - 7 receiving, 2 rushing, 1 KO Return.

After his TD streak came to an end October 6, 1952, Casey finished the season with another 6 TDs in the final 3 games - 3 receiving, 2 rushing, 1 Interception return.
